@Hoosierflyman Here's a link to Elizabeth Warren's higher ed plan: https://t.co/uhG6rFHSFW
Appears that you would not become a government employee, just that the federal government would cover tuition costs. Plenty of non-US students would still pay out of pocket (as now).
Would you like to figure out how smart flies are by developing new behavioral methods (like visual place learning, below)?
We are looking for a new postdoc to join us: https://t.co/nvMdDVidmS
If interested and at #SICB2020 -- let’s talk ASAP
[RT appreciated!]
Couldn't be prouder of our cover article in @GeneticsGSA, where we tackle the wild world of male fruit fly genitalia. Not sure how @TheWarholMuseum feels about our artistic and scientific vision, but it feels great to celebrate a queer PIttsburgh icon 🏳️🌈https://t.co/RLZU6PxbCU
@BramVDBe Unfortunately, I don't really know. Needed to step back from the business for a bit, and it's not clear when I'll be able to return. Send me a note if you have more specific questions?
When I finished my PhD they took me to a special room and told me that when applying for @NIH grants PhDs must perform the ritual of "letters of support". PhDs write letters, send them to friends to sign, & then the signed letters are sent to @NIH where PhDs pretend they're real.
New pre-print from @debivort lab! Zach W. put flies through a "decathlon" and showed that behavioral variation is high-dimensional (both for isogenic and outbred populations!) https://t.co/03KBOrkmQW
@bantamtools I did see those, but, uh, $10 for shipping a $3 product? I happy to support y'all, and I plug your mill whenever I get the chance, but also could I just get these at my local hardware store?
Makers, DIYers, robot junkies, etc -- check out the latest and greatest from the folks at @Smoothieware, the v2 Smoothieboard (in several flavors) for controlling all manner of motorized things. https://t.co/ihxu5MDdx6
@Smoothieware I've been nothing but impressed with the first generation product and the people behind it - the hardware is robust and powerful, and the dedicated team has been responsive and helpful anytime we needed help (usually b/c we were trying to do something a little crazy).
@TrackingActions Another consideration is w/r/t the name, which you can protect differently than the code. Could consider registering a trademark to prevent people from providing a crappy service with the DLC "brand." Can charge *and* set terms (e.g. quality, uptime, etc) for using the name.
@bpecken @FlyEyeLab@Hoosierflyman@drosophilosophy@benshahary NIGHTSEA isn't on twitter, but they are quite responsive by email. If you have a line that you want to check out, you could probably send them some flies and get some photos back to see if their setup would work...
