@Tiredntesty @Dan4Barnet@Samfr No, the problem is it's NOT corruption: it's the system of checks and endless balances and rights that we've designed, to give everyone a say about absolutely everything and a veto in almost everything, and the power to take it to a higher and higher court, so nothing is decided
@ginevlily@AmericanAffrs This is a quite extraordinary piece, because it does not represent any established point of view, or grind any axe, conservative, liberal, feminist, anti-feminist, religious, anti-religious, generational, racial or any other. It is honest thinking and reporting from experience.
@createstreets How are we going to build all these old buildings in the new quarters of Cambridge? The University's vision of Cambridge West has nothing in common with this, nor will it. Residents will flock into the town centre.
@createstreets A beautiful complete fantasy. Where do you suppose this might go, and at what cost, borne by whom? Just look at what has been built in Cambridge in the past 40 years -- around the station, for instance -- to see what will happen again.
@createstreets Cambridge cannot be expanded without putting intolerable strain on the only part of it that is still worth visiting, the strip from the Fitz to Magdalene. The rest is irrevocably ruined. More people on the outskirts will inevitably put more pressure on the middle.
@Simon4NDorset We didn't "voluntarily" enter into these "obligations". They were dictated by the EU at a time when it had jurisdiction over us, against the clear mandate of the UK majority who voted to leave that jurisdiction and the policy of its govt. They'd happily have blocked it forever.
If you don't understand the mysterious workings of #music, this is as good an introduction as I can imagine. Very entertaining and informative, expecting an intelligent and alert audience. #Welldone#HowardGoodall#BBC https://t.co/lalknadRnD
