🦠🧬New paper🧬🦠
A family of ICEs infiltrated the P. syringae species complex! PsICEs are highly recombinogenic but conserve backbone genes punctuated by diverse cargo genes. The most common one? A transposon able to manipulate bacterial metabolism.

This is a very cool piece of work from @gallie_jenna et al Large-scale duplication events underpin population-level flexibility in tRNA gene copy number in Pseudomonas fluorescens https://t.co/ZImgbwrwX0
Building a solid research profile takes time. We want to support exactly that in #theoreticalbiology and offer *two* long-term postdoc positions. Details and application procedure is here https://t.co/D6LjoU2Ypd
We just submitted our first phage paper to biorxiv (https://t.co/lnWnKCgS40). This was a mammoth effort by Jordan Romeyer Dherbey with help from Lavisha (@lavisha_parab) and Jenna (@gallie_jenna).
We have a 2-year postdoc fellowship available in the Lind Lab at Umeå University, Sweden! Predicting and guiding experimental evolution of antibiotic resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. RTs appreciated. https://t.co/tt2yJJ9LSf
Open group leader position in #prokaryote#phylogenetics! Join our vibrant community of evolutionary biologists in @_K_E_C. Inquiries during #SMBE2023 are welcome (to T. Dagan). @CRC1182@trans_evo@kieluni details here: https://t.co/pLAOpiMh1b
Peer-reviewed version in @NatureComms of our (@yashraj_chavhan@SutirthDey)
paper on experimental evolution of bacterial multicellularity by genetic assimilation of phenotypically plastic cell clustering https://t.co/inqo9U8nAk Don't miss the new supplementary movies!
Lovely to see our study out in mBio! https://t.co/c7AALA1FQZ The short read : don't assume higher antibiotic resistance causes higher fitness in bacteria selected with sub-inhibitory antibiotics. With wonderful colleagues @diepesce@SumanGDas@Mark_P_Zwart and Arjan de Visser!
See our final lineup for Phage Bites symposium!
Six talks from PhDs/ECRS followed by an expert discussion on synthetic biology to create therapeutic phage! Still time to register

Frederic Bertels @fredeBio and collaborators from @MPI_EvolBio have a recommended #preprint in @PeerCommunityIn: RAREFAN: A webservice to identify REPINs and RAYTs in bacterial genomes https://t.co/aPXImZ3q89
We have a new preprint with @andydfarr and @RaineyLab. If you are interested in barcoding a microbial species, have a look at our adventure to barcode P.fluorescens SBW25. https://t.co/5e6dRECr01
