@Lv_Mnky No that was not all they demanded. They also demanded an army limited to 50k personnel and caps on weaponry. They demanded Crimea and that Donbas would not be independent.
Basically they wanted to cripple Ukraine's defense to that they more easily could attack again.
@wlerin@EveKeneinan What if she has an std? If she makes herself pregnant against his will? 18 years of child support is nothing to sneeze at. I'm sure there are more scenarios where he doesn't simply walk away unharmed from it.
For everyone who says "just freeze the lines," a question I've asked for eighteen years and never had answered.
Name one line Russia froze that stayed frozen. Transnistria, 1992: the "peacekeepers" are still there. Abkhazia and South Ossetia, 2008: the fence moves every summer. Crimea, 2014: the launch pad for 2022. Minsk, 2015: seven years of "frozen" while the army for the invasion was built behind it.
One line. Any year. I'll wait, and so will the next country on the list.
@Froth_Broth@GreenBlackHeart They are not in the way if you spend 5 seconds thinking about it, they are incredibly easy to rip off and I've never had them leak. Either incredible skill issue or you're buying crap products that leaked before they were attached.
I want to reiterate this: The fact that Russia is now confident enough to do attacks in Europe, is because we did nothing when their drones entered Romania a few years ago. A long chain of doing nothing after doing nothing that emboldened the Russians to escalate more and more.
I win again!
Newly-released Swedish data shows that the rise in autism between 2001 and 2020 was...
ENTIRELY attributable to an increase in cases WITHOUT intellectual disability—less severe cases than used to be the norm!
The autism epidemic is not real: we just diagnose more.
@FSDEurope@KRoelandschap You're supposed to slow down before the sign so that you are at that speed when you reach it. No sudden speed change needed, just some foresight.
One of the world’s best athletes ever, the Swedish-American pole vaulter Armand Duplantis criticizes the IOC for its decision to let Russian athletes compete in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics:
“Nothing has changed (with the war). It’s just getting worse. I really don’t understand their decision. Honestly…”
As a physician working in Germany: this lunacy will have catastrophic consequences for all sides: patients and doctors -and businesses:
A) This will force patients to go to work when they should be staying home and resting, ultimately endangering themselves and others and prolonging recovery times - because it’s actually insane to demand from people with fever or diarrhea to actually physically go and see a doctor on the first day of their symptoms.
B) This is going to be an absolute nightmare for doctors and emergency departments.
There’s absolutely no capacity whatsoever in the German healthcare system for this utterly absurd legislation.
@kristoph@Rapt0r_exe@HistorianZhang It was well engineered for the demands of the time. Being well engineered means not making it more expensive than it needs to be. It's why our buildings are not earthquake resistant.
Regarding the discussion about Türkiye versus Turkey.
I love it when I’m politely asked whether it should be pronounced “Copenhaygen” or “Copenhaagen”.
We call the city “København”.
You can do whatever you like, and I have no preferences.
But seriously: I wouldn’t want you all to write and say “København”.
You don’t have the proper keyboards. And it’s really hard to pronounce if you didn’t grow up with it.
