@Sean_McDowell What does something being evil have to do with whether theism is true? Do you think that metaethics has anything at all to do with debates concerning theism...?
@AStrasser116 Primarily the success and relative comprehensiveness of our current physics for describing and predicting things in the relevant regime. Sure, maybe there's something special about the matter in our head, or maybe our theories are relevantly incomplete. But I wouldn't bet on it.
Myself, Lance Bush, and @askyourself92 reviewed the recent debate on moral realism between Lance Bush and David Enoch. Premiering now, check it out! https://t.co/Hwg3XUm8JN
@MuseObserving@ophello@HardwireMedia Looks like he crashed out and blocked me. Anyway, there is a huge risk to you and those around you, since there's at least a decent chance that you'll die and they'll lose you if you vote blue. You're just wrong, and I hope that you can realize that.
@MuseObserving@ophello@HardwireMedia It is contributing to something bad happening. The point is that it's contributing so slightly that abstaining is not worth the huge risk to your life in these cases. And it's not just a huge risk to you, but to people who depend on or care about you who might survive your death.
@MuseObserving@ophello@HardwireMedia Suppose that, if you didn't vote against Trump, you had to flip a coin to see if you'd be killed. Would you still vote against? If not, then you understand the argument. It's not voter apathy per se, it's realizing the stakes are way too high to warrant your tiny contribution.
@dannyphiltalk@WriterJohnBuck The alleged problem with the hypostatic union is that the features required to be human are incompatible with the features required to be God, and so one thing cannot simultaneously be both.
@dannyphiltalk@WriterJohnBuck Spock's parents are human and Vulcan. Perhaps they can have children that are both human and Vulcan, but if so, that's because being human is compatible with being Vulcan. If the features required to be a human were incompatible with those required to be Vulcan, he can't be both.
@MuseObserving@ophello@HardwireMedia I'm Canadian and, I think, largely amenable to "progressive" policies, although I'd take it case by case. In any case, please consider reading my blog post where I explain my reasoning in more detail: https://t.co/k2Jpmsw13y
In this post, I provide a careful analysis and argument regarding the red/blue button dilemma. What's the right answer? Check it out!! https://t.co/k2Jpmsw13y
@ophello@HardwireMedia It is simple statistics, but your reasoning is bad. It's true that of realistic outcomes, blue winning is the best. But my vote almost certainly won't change whether blue wins. That large risk to myself and others isn't worth it when it almost certainly won't make a difference.
