Google's proposed workaround for installing unverified apps requires 9 steps, a 24-hour wait, and runs through Play Services, which Google can modify at any time. It hasn't shipped in any beta. https://t.co/lvJD0aa3YA #KeepAndroidOpen
Just finished my last snow trip of the season. My progress this year surpassed all my previous years combined. This year is a small slope. Hopefully next year I can go big

In my new game, you'll need a key to escape from sand worms. But to get the key you'll have to solve some puzzles while in the open. Join the discord in my bio to get into the playtest on February 20th.

I'm having a multiplayer playtest for my game called Rumblings on Feb 20th. You get chance to play an early version of an indie game, provide feedback to shape the game, and gain an indie dev's eternal gratitude. Join my discord get into the playtest! https://t.co/tm7T1ngMJM
My assumption is that Nintendo is going after Pocket Pair for the Pal Sphere mechanic as it directly mirrors the Pokéball.
Nintendo has a patent on file for this mechanic but the dates make it a bit interesting. The US patent was filed in May 2024 and approved in August 2024. The JP one appears to have been filed in December 2021 and was approved in November 2023. Palworld was announced publicly on June 2021 and launched in January 2024.
From this basis it appears that Nintendo saw a threat and tried to shore up with patents in case Palworld did well.
Overall I feel that patenting mechanics in this way limits games and gives us worse games overall. We should be copyrighting characters, art, music, and other content. Patenting mechanics sucks for everyone.
Patents aren't my forte but this definitely seems in the realm of possibility. Waiting to see how this all plays out and if my assumption is even correct.

Ever want to play a 2D dead by daylight? Do you think playing as small animals trying to escape predators would be fun? Follow for more updates. I'm cooking up a multiplayer game that I think will be loads of fun with friends.

@NinjaTheory's Hellblade 2 was one of my highest anticipated sequels and I wish more folks played this franchise. They tell powerful stories that feel like a movie, but in a way that I feel can only be captured in a video game format. Well done to the studio 👏
