@Hill_of_Beanz@VanessaBeeley Oh, well, seems you don't like having conversations with people who have a different life experience/opinion than you
Just easier to block them I guess
Free Palestine 🍉 (I guess we can agree on that 😅)
@Hill_of_Beanz@VanessaBeeley@VanessaBeeley Hi, I think you blocked my other account @Hill_of_Beanz by mistake.
We were having a conversation about Greece, happy to continue the conversation and hear more about your take.
I hope it was a mistake....

Couple of thoughts:
1) 'Misinformation' is an amorphous, flabby linguistic
+ ideological construct. It's not a science thing...
2) 'Commercial bias' is kinda one of the bedrocks of medical/ scientific research https://t.co/vMuQ79m4rC
#justsaying
Sleep videos created by bloggers, health coaches, and other non-experts get millions of eyeballs. But a @JCSMJournal study (https://t.co/VOr7KIHJbL) found two-thirds contained commercial bias — and more than 90 percent contained misinformation. https://t.co/jT5VbO0iW5
@rebeccasrobbins@YouTube I'd love to read the study, but it will cost me $125 to remove the paywall.
Any chance you could forward a pdf copy?
Thanks :)
Fascinating results underlining our deep connection to nature and the cosmos
Even in the most urban of environments, human sleep patterns show 'striking' changes across the seasons
Surprisingly, human sleep architecture varies substantially across seasons in an adult population living in an urban environment. #sleep

@altini_marco I see a lot of parallels with 'orthosomnia'
ie people becoming fixated on sub-optimal metrics, which in turn causes unhealthy obsessions, negative feedback, stress/anxiety etc
- the double irony in this case is that we're talking about a metric that measures stress!
Huberman is partly right, but omits the glaring fact that spring forward collectively benefits oil, retail, golf, leisure industries by 💰billions every year
Ignorance and greed are a deadly combo
As we head toward the “spring forward” daylight savings, I am reminded how these rules are based on total lack of how our circadian biology actually works. I believe the solution is in educating our lawmakers.
After all most of them look like their health could use a boost too!
@ronniwhitworth@hubermanlab No it's the opposite way round.
Spring forward means lighter evenings, but at the cost of darker mornings.
Daylight Saving Time is an anti-science thing in this respect
@matthorsnell@project_sleep I don't do 'debate'. In the UK it's tied to connotations of elitism, private education, rhetoric etc etc
I like 'conversation'
@matthorsnell@project_sleep The question references 'sleep science' not 'sleep'
Which makes this a debate about gatekeeping
The existential purpose of science is to usher new knowledge into wider awareness/discourse
Not shield the public from it because of a subjective assessment of 'harm'
Wow indeed.
For anyone who reflexivley responds "but orthosomnia'" whenever the topic of sleep tracking is mentioned..
.. here's a reminder of the big picture 👇
ie the vast potential of cheap, accessible consumer wearables to revolutionise health care across multiple domains

it's not aliens
i wish it were aliens
but it's not aliens
it's just the ol' engineered panic, an attractive nuisance ensuring natsec reporters get assigned to investigate balloon bullshit rather than budgets or bombings (à la nordstream)
until next time
@jadewuphd Yeah, for sure. He was massively into napping too, despite preaching that everyone should sleep less. Can't figure that one out..... 🤔
