@OptimusRealm Only works if you're actually doing things worth telling. Nobody's story is built out of the weeks they stayed home. The hard parts are what make it a story in the first place.
@josbjohnson The part about not knowing what's in you yet is real. You can't think your way to it either. You find out who you are by doing things and seeing what sticks. Everyone waiting to feel ready is just waiting.
@BawiTeee The catch is you have to start something to repeat it. Most people never get past day one because being new at something feels bad. Get comfortable being bad at things and the repetition part takes care of itself.
@OkadikeOnyeisi Unlearning is only half of it. You have to put something in the empty space or the old behavior walks right back in. Fill it with things you've never done and there's no room left for the habits you're trying to drop.
@ManOfFocus_ There's a difference between isolating to build something and isolating because it's easier. One ends with work you're proud of, the other ends with a year you can't remember. Cutting the noise is right, but you still have to go live.
@blakeaburge Picking a direction is the hard part though. Most people aren't scattered, they just have no idea what they'd lock in on. That usually comes from trying enough things to find the one you'd actually stick with. Hard to focus on something you've never done.
@GabbbarSingh Most people spend that coin before they're even out of bed. First thing they see every morning is someone else's life. The mornings you actually remember are the ones where you went and started your own.
@hubermanlab Steps 2 and 3 are way easier if you practiced them during the day. Spend a day actually present, moving, doing something new, and your mind has nothing to replay at night. Spend it in your head and it keeps running after the lights go off.
@blakeaburge The big moves feel impossible because you've gone months without any small ones. Try a new thing, take the class, go somewhere alone. Each one teaches you that you can change something. Then the job and the relationship stop feeling so permanent.
@SahilBloom Just don't make the pause your phone. Scrolling through a bad mood doesn't settle anything, it feeds it. Actually take the walk. Whatever you do with that minute decides how you feel after it.
@LewisHowes Add stories to that list. Money you can rebuild, but the years you spent doing nothing don't come back. Nobody gets to the end wishing they'd stayed in more.
@nikitabier This is a sidequest that got away from you. Best ones always start as "this made sense at the time" and end somewhere you'd never have planned.
@Dearme2_ Boring routines, sure. Boring life, no. Skipping the parties and the bad habits is smart. Skipping everything new is how you end up 30 with ten years that all blur into one.
@ManOfFocus_ "Do it alone" is the one people can't get past. Waiting for someone to come with you has killed more plans than fear ever has. Go by yourself and you stop needing permission.
@CoachDanGo Solid list. I'd add one: do something new every week. Everything here makes you healthier but none of it makes the three months memorable. You want to look back in January and actually remember it.
@thejustinwelsh The 9pm part is the hard one. Nobody actually wants to be awake at 11, they just haven't done anything worth being tired from. Fill the day and sleep takes care of itself.
@going_legit One brick a day is the part people skip. Not a plan, not a system, just one thing done today that you didn't do yesterday. Do that for a year and you won't recognize yourself.
@DearS_o_n Add your feed to that list. It's the space you spend the most time in and the only one you never clean. Cut what makes you feel behind and you'll have room for the new stuff.
@Markmanson And you can't peel anything away sitting still. You find out what's actually yours by doing things and noticing what you'd keep doing if no one ever saw it.
@SahilBloom Traits aren't taught, they're accumulated. Curiosity is just someone who's tried a lot of things. Courage is someone who's been uncomfortable before. Kids learn those by watching you go collect them.
