Moi University is in shambles! Students are being shot for simply saying they want to stay in school! The university management needs an immediate overhaul!
Students say that they don't want to go home, instead urgent the university to solve it's issues. The police are then sent to evict students who were vacating from the hostels. The threw teargas ati ndio waharakishe. As a result, the students retaliated leading to the chaos.
Lecturers and staff at Moi University had been on strike for an extended period before joining the nationwide strike that began on September 18 and was called off on September 26 following government intervention.
After the nationwide strike the university's lecturers resumed their internal strike which also involves university staff.
As a result, students report that there are no learning activities taking place on campus.
Video clips circulating on WhatsApp groups show students aimlessly wandering around the campus.
