Reasonable people can disagree about who has the best burgers but BK, Wendy's, In & Out, etc. all have worse fries & they have to know it but don't make an effort to improve. Except when BK made theirs crispier & worse.

@wil_da_beast630 This is very common in developing countries where there is no effective policing. There's no mass shoplifting in these countries because the store owners and other customers would beat the hell out of the shoplifters.

@ElieNYC We need public TV trials because otherwise media coverage of trial would be "Rittenhouse totally proven guilty beyond doubt, conviction expected" and then the riots on acquittal will be worse. If Rodney King beating trial were televised, people may have accepted the acquittals.

@ElieNYC There may be more. The more you defund the police and insist on police pulling back and not arresting shoplifters, looters etc. the more you're going to get vigilantism. Trial of thieves and rapists by lynch mob is very common in under-policed 3rd world countries.

@ElieNYC A colleague of mine once had an opposing witness bring notes to the stand. Judge made him turn over the notes mid-testimony. And his notes told him "sigh" at the exact point when he dramatically sighed in his testimony. His explanation? "That was to remind me not to sigh."

@SinCityAttorney He established the kid lied to the mob by saying he never shot anyone and then stupidly asked "Why?" and gave kid chance to explain it. He had poor witness control, the kid got away with giving a lot of helpful commentary even in response to yes/no questions.
