Successful @GCF_News replenishment meeting ended on a good note. Policy for contributions approved. Process for finalizing the replenishment report agreed to. Gracious offer by France to host the Pledging Conference. A level of about USD 10 billion seems feasible.
... well worth a close look, as they are some of the best and most advanced out there for multilateral grievance redress for affected people. A clear signal that implementation of @GCF_News projects must be intl best practice, otherwise the @GCF_IRM supporting redress will be....
Thanks for the support; I am told it is a procedural item, raised by some developing country @GCF_News Board members, to now be clarified at the next Board meeting, so hopefully not closing out more active participation of selected CSO representative the next round in August.
Today the #GCFB22 deliberates on the selection of its 3rd Executive Director. Surprised and disappointed that they were unable to find a suitable women candidate on their shortlist. @GCF_News @gcf_views
Under this text the US could give a $50m non-concessional loan to Malawi for a mitigation project. The loan would have to be paid back with interest, a net transfer of wealth from South to North. Yet the US could count $50m towards its climate finance obligation. #COP24#UNFCCC
What do you know?!
35 delegates from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Russia and the US at #COP24 have ties to the fossil fuel and mining industries | @DeSmogUK https://t.co/oYlYDvctwq
@gorissenn @Visa@adaptationfund Nice gesture, sure. But you would have to tap 46 million times to reach funding needs of the @adaptationfund as noted in ECO newsletter today: https://t.co/QeliyKPMBU
At #COP24 Stocktake in pre-2020 ambition #Norway said they will double their contribution to the Green Climate Fund in the current replenishment. Congrats #Norway and #Germany!! Next up? Anyone for tripling?? #GCF
Just *four* countries out of nearly 200 blocked a sentence at #COP24 which would have "welcomed" the IPCC's special report on 1.5C...
Saudi Arabia, US, Kuwait and Russia.
I wonder what those four countries share in common?
🤔
Ayman Shashly 🇸🇦 @Shaslyam in the Joint #SBI#SBSTA#APA Plenary at #COP24: “We could have done better had we had the political will. But obviously we did not.” That summarizes the Saudi position very well. Blockig the welcoming of #IPCC#SR15 is just shameful!
@climateWWF @GCF_News @manupulgarvidal@WWF This is great! But it’s not a donation. It is a contribution following from a legal obligation to provide climate finance contained in the #UNFCCC and the #ParisAgreement
Germany has just announced a doubling of their contribution to @GCF_News! @BMZ_Bund’s Gerd Müller pledges €1.5 billion to start the #GCFund replenishment drive and calls on others to match this ambition. https://t.co/kOT4e7IL5Z
