Bus lanes, the congestion charge, indoor smoking bans. All of these policies brought significant objectors - but experts knew they had to happen because they work. It takes time to adjust but these policies are rarely mentioned now.
The same will be true of cycle lanes and LTNs.
This perfectly sums up how Covid is revealing the hidden issues in our society (from Cressida Dick’s statement today on what constitutes local exercise).
@itinerantgeoff @simonstill@HanneyDP Missing signs at turns are often a result of mischievous or hostile acts. Perhaps LCC could discuss working with them and boroughs to keep the signage in good state. @psimonk@simonstill

@SustransLondon@bricycle @jackthurston @_XavierBrice_@cyclestreets@DacorumBC The Alban Way is an excellent facility illustrating how good NCN routes can be. Not only good for locals but enables a several longer rides, e.g. St. Albans to Harlington 30 miles without much traffic: https://t.co/rqJtctvGPe
At a major signal controlled jnct. in Cambs I noted that 40% of LT drivers failed to indicate at least 10m from turn, with half never indicating, despite a cycle lane. Police said legal to not signal unless it endangers others! At least it now has advance greens for cycles.
