I think, similar to the handheld experience, other game stores won't be as frictionless to access from the frontend UI and a majority of customers will just buy from the Xbox store. We're talking 30+ million users that would be coming from Series consoles already used to that experience and hopefully more coming from PC since they'll have access to their library on a console already. I also don't see them subsidizing the box. Seeing Switch 2 and PS5 being hacked already probably helps reinforce the idea of being more open. If people are just going to try and break in anyway, let them have access to the host OS
@Raichuwastaken@MrDachi87 Ideally there would be an option for WoW or ESO, but I think Epic may have a marketing deal in place and there have been gamers talking about being Fortnite Premium subs and upgrading to Game Pass Ultimate for the extra games
@Jenbox360 It's the worst possible time for them to even consider it sadly, and the petition is just going to raise the price of the IP if EA was going to sell it off
This is why I like my XBOX and PC combo, especially the more Xbox leans into Play Anywhere. I prefer playing on my big screen with my feet up, but with a toddler I realistically end up playing on a PC handheld or remoted in from my phone while she sleeps. I had a PS5 for a year and they were ridiculous about even remotely connecting to the console with anything but a Sony controller
If you have to down talkingly explain gender theory to someone that just wants to play your fantasy game then you're not being political, you're being annoying.
If you're trying to make real world politics be paralleled in your near future world for your game and you change names just enough where it still sounds like the real world parallel, you're not being political, you're showing your lack of creativity
There's a reason Heinlan and Orwell were able to write such powerful politically charged scifi. It's why Lewis and Tolkien were able to write Christian allegory so well in stories that hold up well for nearly a century and are embraced by secular fans as much as Christian. It's how Kojima, Sakaguchi and Levine were able to take politically charged stories and make them games that hold up decades later when so many of their contemporaries are forgotten in $5 bargain bins.
It's because they have fucking talent.
The industry got too bloated and the tech too complicated. I'll be honest, I hope AI allows the studios to shed the bloat from their teams, keep the passionate devs on and let them use AI tools to help them speed up some of the doldrums of game development that absolutely no one enjoys.
Along with shrinking the teams, it could shrink the time between game launches. We may be able to see entire trilogies released within 6 years again like Mass Effect and Halo were.
I remember seeing the trailer drop for Mass Effect and when it finished, you immediately hit that play button again. You knew you just saw something special and I for one couldn't wait to jump into the ME universe
@GameOverThirty Madden is the COD of ball games and FIFA, or whatever it's called now, is a global juggernaut. There are not enough Mass effect fans to make a dent on EA
