Ginalyn Almodiere has been planting corn for decades. Over the years, however, corn farming has become more challenging due to climate extremes such as frequent typhoons, long dry spells, and pest incidence. To ease their impacts, Ginalyn adjusts her planting schedule, practices crop diversification, and listens to weather updates to guide her farm decisions.

Ginalyn is a member of the Minalabac Corn Farmers Association, one of the Farmer Cooperatives and Associations (FCAs) selected to directly benefit under the Adapting Philippine Agriculture to Climate Change (APA) Project.

With funding from the @theGCF , the APA Project, jointly implemented by the @dacentralph , @dost_pagasa and @FAOPhilippines is set to provide Climate Information Services (CIS) and Climate Resilient Agriculture (CRA) options to 250,000 farmers through training and farm inputs, targeting 50 percent women participation.

As we celebrate the National Women’s Month and the International Year of the Woman Farmer, we make sure that women farmers like Ginalyn are not left behind but are in the front and center of development initiatives, recognizing their vital role and contribution to agricultural productivity and food security.
