We were all so fortunate to have had Paul in our lives, although far too short. He inspired so many with his vision for a more just and equitable world for all. Sending my love to the @pih extended family around the world.
I will miss my astonishing dear friend Paul Farmer, who I met as a first-year medical student at @harvardmed in September 1984 and who never ceased to amaze me ever since. He built hospitals and schools, and he saved many thousands of lives. #PaulFarmer@PIH
Working in an ED in Boston on this NYE. Lots of COVID around (no surprise here). Almost everybody has mild disease and is getting discharged. Everybody tonight that has needed to be admitted is being admitted WITH COVID rather than FOR COVID.
Closing schools may be necessary if too many members of a school's staff are at home because they are infected/sick, but closing schools should not be used as a pandemic infection-control measure. https://t.co/EbjegAJDvG @BranchWestyn @ShiraDoronMD

Boston is at a turning point— the pandemic has held a mirror up to the inequities we see every day and laid bare our vulnerabilities.
This moment requires a leader who can lead us through a recovery rooted in equity to a better future. That’s why I’m running for mayor of Boston.

“I think a lot of people think of 3 feet as a return to normal and I want to be very clear: It’s not a return to normal,” she said. “It’s still physical distancing.”
Thank you Drs. Jacquet and Lantagne!

A piece I did in the middle of last year in which virus experts said school reopening was a rare point in this pandemic where they agreed with Trump https://t.co/hcQsRJhDbo
In @USATODAY about teachers and COVID vaccine, @BrownUniversity@BrownMedicine prof and emergency physician @meganranney says, "It's a mess. We'll be lucky if we get teachers getting vaccinated by March or April in most states." https://t.co/rSDYsYCkm0
CDC recommends that K-12 schools be the last settings to close after all other mitigation measures have been employed and the first to reopen when they can do so safely. See school resources here: https://t.co/QSCGa85yT2 #CNNTownHall
"It's less likely for a child to get infected in the school setting than if they were just in the community."

Thank you to all those who reached out from all the walks of my life. It's an honor when your peers believe you're worthy enough for a job as important as the mayor of Boston. Look forward to continuing the discussion over the the coming days. https://t.co/ZkvSYPj05k
