I am an associate professor at @Sorbone_univ_ and work at @LCQB_UMR7238 on N-terminal ends of protein nascent chains, and their impact on protein life cycle.
We identify and experimentally validate a conserved signature at position 2 of the MTS that is typical of N-terminal acetyltransferases C potential substrates.
We find that the amino acid in position 2 segregates proteins located in different cellular compartments. The signal is strong and highly specific to that position.

Discovery and validation of functionally relevant N-terminal signatures across the yeast proteome! Great collaboration with Mathilde Garcia. @LCQB_UMR7238 1/3
How we discovered and experimentally validated the role of N-terminal residues for NatC recruitment and efficient import of mitochondrial precursors.
See our preprint on functional exploration of N-terminal signatures in the yeast proteome.
