@Sonos Seriously @Sonos, such a catastrophic new version, soo
slow, unreactive, many previous features now missing, long path for simple actions ... Is this version finished ? Are you really considering your clients who paid your "high end" products ? 10 years ago version was better !
Great news from #elasticsearch 7.7 : less heap used (relying more on file system cache) will allow us to put more data per node on our huge high #density clusters, thanks @elastic team / @jpountz#pushingthelimits https://t.co/mWRVMNxUht
It's the year 2020, and we're still finding buffer overflows in programs written in C.
Fortunately, those programs are only esoteric, rarely installed programs like...
<checks notes>
sudo.
I am also troubled and upset by @Sonos approach. Like a programmed obsolescence and with crazy choice for customers owning these not-so-old high-end products : no more updates, or choose to exchange for few bucks and kill a working hardware (crazy Sonos replacement program)...
There should be a FailConf. The speakers would share stories about a time they failed then discuss what they learned and how they recovered from that failure.
End of nearly 5 years of mission at @BNPParibasCIB, a bit nostalgic. Big challenges around @delphix, then @elastic and @apachekafka accepted and delivered. Learnt a lot and worked with many talented, skilled and dedicated people. Thank you all!
#elasticsearch@ElasticFR
After being @Elastic Certified Engineer last year, I just achieved @confluentinc Certified Operator for #Apache#Kafka :) In line with my last job !

Interesting (and honest) answer by @gwenshap on why Kafka did not use Netty to implement the networking stack:

Sometimes weird search queries open some interesting things from the past :)

On espère quelques discussions passionnantes en after ... 😊
