President Trump has posted that 100 Million barrels of oil are making its way through the Strait.
This appears to be what is happening.
⚓️President Trump and @CENTCOM announced Project Freedom to escort ships through the Strait. The US evacuated two US ships but then curtailed the operation.
⚓️It appears that the US resumed the operation using autonomous vehicles, aircraft and drones to escort ships through the southern part of the Strait, near the coast of Oman.
⚓️Iran has responded with targeting of some ships, these include HMM Namu and CMA CGM San Antonio. The US has responded with airstrikes against Iran.
⚓️ What has transpired is tankers, including Very Large Crude Carriers are exiting the Persian Gulf. Then, per @TankerTrackers, the VLCCs are conducting ship-to-ship (STS) transfers to other tankers in the Gulf of Oman.
⚓️The empty tankers, which ran the Strait with their AIS, run back through the Strait to pick up a new load of oil from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar or Iraq.
⚓️The Apache helicopter that recently crashed was probably a part of this operation.
⚓️This explains why we have not seen an appreciable drop in the number of ships stuck in the Persian Gulf. By running the same ships, war risk insurance, potentially provided by the US through the Development Finance Corporation (DFC) through a pool of approximately of $40 billion, could be covering these ships making the transits.
⚓️This would also explain the recent announcement by Kuwait to fix new contracts for its oil.
⚓️The question is how long is this sustainable and at what level is oil moving daily. With current pipelines through Saudi Arabia and the UAE, this system would need to move approximately 12-14M barrels/day through the Strait.
This analysis is based on open source material, but big shout out to @TankerTrackers@Kpler@MarineTraffic@LloydsList@gCaptain for their postings and research.
I will be playing the Saturday 2/2 game. Maybe @cdrsalamander will show up and try to take some of my money from me? Also - do I show up in my @UF shirt, my @NavalAcademy shirt, or the shirt that shows the chart of the entrance to @NAVSTA_Mayport?

It is not certain that HaShem will always protect Israel, either the State or the People. Twice the Temple was destroyed because of our own sins, primary among those was the sin of baseless hatred amongst ourselves. While Trump has been a praiseworthy ally of Israel and the Jewish People, you are correct that Jews both in Isreal and the Diaspora must be able to stand up for themselves by themselves. We may at times disagree on tactics, but the foundation of our survival is unity, love, and respect among Kal Yisrael.
My synagogue's religious school does a series of lessons on the Holocaust with our 6th graders each year before they visit the Holocaust museum in DC. One of those lessons is on Righteous Gentiles and the story of Sargent Major Edmonds always makes a huge impact on the students.
I was the DDG PM when we commissioned DDG112. @billmcraven gave a very moving tribute to LT Murphy on what is means to be a SEAL. Murphy’s mom was the ship’s sponsor. Nothing could bring her son back but I am glad the Navy honored his heroism with the naming of the ship.
The officer of the deck aboard USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) observes a merchant vessel while the guided-missile destroyer enforces the U.S. blockade against Iran in the Arabian Sea. As of June 7, CENTCOM forces have redirected 132 commercial vessels and disabled 6 to ensure compliance.
This is why negotiations in the Middle East are best conducted in private. @jaredkushner@AviBerkow and @RC_Greenway knew that if the Abraham Accords negotiation became public, there would be efforts to derail them. Privacy gave all parties the room to negotiate to an acceptable deal. The Saudi discussions in 2023 were the subject of a sufficient number of leaks to the press that someone was going to try to interfer.
I need @cdrsalamander opinion here. I was born on the boarder of C&B - I have family in A&D - and I love the cigar shops in E. Ultimately, I think I choose A for the boiled peanuts - but it is a close call.
You just won a 2-week, all-expenses-paid vacation to Florida. But there’s a catch: you have to stay within one region the whole time. What are you picking?
@KurtSchlichter The amazing thing is the actual mark-up language is so mild and ordinary, and so common in our relationship with other close allies, that I think someone inserted it into the NDAA just to reveal who the flaming Jew haters are.
This joke is ok-funny, but my favorite Jewish jokes are jokes that only Jews will really get, because they poke fun at specific rituals, rules, or customs in Jewish life. Such as: "An Orthodox Rabbi walks down a street and see the president of his shul walking down the opposite side. Realizing he needs to discuss some shul business, he crosses the street just in time to see the president enter a non-kosher restaurant. The Rabbi is shocked, but he waits in front and watches what happens through the window. A waiter comes to the shul president as asks what he will be having for lunch and the shul president orders a bacon double cheeseburger. The rabbi cannot believe his own ears! He continues to watch until the waiter comes back a few minutes later with a mouthwatering medium rare bacon double cheeseburger. Just as the president is about to take a bite, the rabbi rushes into the restaurant, runs to the table and says "Shmuley, what do you think you are doing?" Shmuley replies, "Rabbi, you saw me walk into restaurant. right?" The rabbi says "yes". Shmuley continues "you saw me order the burger?" The Rabbi says "yes". "And you saw the waiter bring it out to me?" The rabbi response, yes, but so what?" Shmuley concludes, "I don't know why you are so upset. Everything I did was under rabbinic supervision!"
None of my non-Jewish friends are laughing right now.
@Temp__Human@CENTCOM After a lot of days at sea with no break in the CENTCOM AOR, I am inclined to be charitable to the sailor on the right. The LTJG on the left does have her pulled back IAW Navy Uniform Regulations.
