.@michaelmina_lab has taught me that a PCR test is not 66 hours better than a rapid antigen test. A same-day antigen test might do a lot of good. But a 72-hour-old PCR test won't help much if the PCR doesn't turn positive until a day before a person becomes infectious.

@jimm3uller @AlecStapp If you’re an employer, you need to lure a good software engineer away from another place. Some percentage is always looking. If society wants more, then society needs to convince more people to learn the skill. That’s true. But paying software engineers more helps motivate that.

@robertgraham A partially facetious answer: Google respects robots.txt and equivalent HTTP headers and HTML tags. I don't think Google guesses patterns for unlinked URLs the way weev did, either.

But the presumption of black magic is probably the true reason for how the law ends up applied.

@michaelmina_lab Do we have any understanding yet of the sensitivity of PCR and rapid tests before the start of the infectious window? That could change the calculation, but I haven't seen much that addresses it.

@Jesse_Livermore @xtrexer It's tricky. To some extent, improved technology is captured in CPI. A clear example is computers improving by Moore's law, which is a deflationary component in CPI.

But the same computer becoming worth more because of the free stuff it accesses on the internet isn't captured.
