Telling poor people that are struggling to pay bills that dear leader is the “most pro worker president of my life” when they’re not feeling the impact is exactly why we’re here
The lack of self reflection from these elite centrist leaders is staggering.
This is straight up BS… Biden was the most-pro worker President of my life time- saved Union pensions, created millions of good paying jobs and even marched in a picket line and some of MVP’s plans would have fundamentally transformed the quality of life and closed the racial wealth gap for working people across this country. From the child tax credits, to 25k for a down payment for a house to Medicare covering the cost of senior health care in their homes. There are a lot of post election takes and this one ain’t a good one.
@ZaidJilani I think it makes sense that going through a puberty that is against what you think your gender is would be an understandably traumatizing experience.
Let's remember Neera's entire presence in politics is thanks to Bill and Hillary Clinton, who she has always defended and befriended. She has no organizing principle beyond careerism.
@throwaway_1100@Wilson__Valdez My guy it’s literally what I did. And all you centrists kept saying “vote blue no matter who” which is why I’d think you’d get it.
If you look at the data, progressives did. When you lost, you lost independents, not fellow Dems.
Musk is worth more than South Africa’s GDP. @BernieSanders and I proposed a 5% tax on people like him.
In one year, it could fund:
- free public college & trade school
-$10/day childcare
- Special-needs education nationwide
Wealth inequality is the moral failure of our time.
@TomWinTejas@TaylorNYC@ZaidJilani Yeah but the difference is the consensus among economists is actually that our current tax system is creating unprecedented wealth inequality at the expense of the working class.
You’re the flat Earther in your own metaphor
@InlandCaGuy Like I went to a private school growing up and there was a really dumb guy in my class. Like he was always barely passing and even got held back one year. But his parents paid for tutoring and kept sending him to private schools.
He just finished his PhD last year.
@InlandCaGuy I straight up don’t think IQ is relevant in 99 percent of cases.
I think anyone who believes a single metric can accurately measure intelligence is, ironically, holding onto a very stupid belief.
@DelphiaDon9@TaylorNYC@ZaidJilani We aren’t talking about taxing the people though. We are talking about making the smallest amount of high earners pay their fair share like we used to before the 80s.
As working Americans, our taxes would hardly even change if they did at all.
@PS0302@TaylorNYC@ZaidJilani Like, as a Californian, you of all people should know that the cost of living is a serious issue.
All I’m suggesting is that we do what has historically worked. Tax the richest, redistribute the wealth.
@PS0302@TaylorNYC@ZaidJilani Amazon sent the rent prices of the biggest city in my state through the roof and now apartment buildings sit empty while homelessness is on the rise.
We can (and used to) regulate/tax these businesses more substantially. It’s common sense.
@TomWinTejas@TaylorNYC@ZaidJilani Bro Marx was literally an economist, AOC has a degree in economics. “ItS eCoNOmiCs” isn’t a justification for an exploitive economy where we have socialism for the rich and rugged individualism for the rest of us.
@DelphiaDon9@TaylorNYC@ZaidJilani I already work as many hours as my grandparents but when you adjust the wages for inflation I make less than they did for the same work.
Why?
Because they had a tax system that made sense. We should bring that back instead of this neo-gilded age BS.
Today, Elon Musk, a trillionaire, pays the same amount into Social Security as someone making $184,500.
If we end that absurdity and lift the cap on taxable income, we can make Social Security solvent for 75 years and expand benefits by $2,400. My Social Security bill does that.
“Capitalism made your iPhone.”
LABOR made your iPhone. Labor makes things under any -ism. The -isms only determine who is paid and how much they are paid.
@TaylorNYC@ZaidJilani Bro u pay for twitter and are dickriding for billionaires who don’t know you exist and don’t care that you exist. Grow up and tax the motherfuckers so that we can make stuff affordable again
This is not an efficient market. An efficient market you would have individuals accruing less so that the economy could grow more, hire more, and invest more.
