Here’s what I shared with Box internally last night about being an AI-first company. We’re focused on transforming how we work with AI to ultimately move faster, iterate more quickly, get out of busy work, and serve customers better.
- 1) AI is a fundamental shift in how we work - we are now AI-first
- 2) This applies to every role, function, and level across the company
- 3) Everyone is now expected to use and be effective at using AI
Less than two and a half years after ChatGPT released and AI went mainstream, we are starting to see what moving to AI-powered work looks like.
Ten common points:
April 2025 seems like a watershed moment for AI adoption at tech companies, with the CEOs at Shopify, Duolingo, and Box all announcing publicly that they were going “AI-first”.
For the past few months, I’ve been trying to learn about and use AI as much as possible in my personal and work life.
On the learning side, that has meant a topic-focused shift in my information diet (newsletters, podcasts, YouTube, and Twitter).

I’m a fan of Anthropic, but I’ve mostly stopped using Claude. It was part of my council for a while, but I found I preferred their answers the least and wasn’t a fan of their formatting.
