Whilst not agreeing with some of the particulars here (mainly around safeguarding) @WalkerMarcus does give us a very robust theological & spiritual critique of our present episcopal culture. It has come to be based on worldly careerism & sycophancy with too much power being held by those who are already bishops whose tendency is to clone themselves and bolster a culture that needs a much more fundamental shake-up:

Here is the thing that nobody actually says publicly. Many assess @JustinWelby behaviour as narcissistic and bullying. I have been in a meeting where he lost his temper and slammed his book shut. He then said he would walk out of the room if people didn’t treat him with respect.

Justin treats very few people with the respect and the basic human dignity that each person made in the image of Christ deserves. Many female colleagues believe him to be fairly misogynistic and some accuse him of implicit racism. You can take the boy out of Eton, but you cannot take Eton out of the boy. There is a self entitled contemptuousness in his approach to victims of abuse which is absolutely appalling.

Justin should’ve resigned after Jay Teport but he didn’t.

Justin could’ve gone with grace and taken responsibility but he refused to.

Justin now needs to be removed. He is the main block to any justice for abuse survivors.

Justin stands against Christ and his teaching & the joyful song of the Mother of God. God will bring down the mighty from their Episcopal thrones and God will exalt the abused.

She was crying at Midnight Mass, but not for why you might think. The choir had just begun singing a hymn in Latin and I looked over to see tears streaming down her cheeks, so I asked what was wrong and she said “I’m just so overwhelmed with how beautiful everything is!”😭🙏🏻❤️
