Some youtube channels and few others are speaking as if they know more than IIT Madras and the international consultants involved. They are amplifying a small, routine change and adding masala + imaginary problems.

My video still holds. The adjustment is only on a short stretch — shifting from centre-pier T-structure to portal frames over a few extra metres near the stations. Portal frames were already part of the design (not newly invented).

This is a normal design change request / execution tweak involving structure based on new findings, not a fundamental redesign or failure.

This is why creating factual, research-driven content on social media is frustrating.

The viral narrative claiming the Anna Salai flyover had to be "redesigned midway" because engineers "forgot the metro and suddenly invented portal frames" is factually false.

1. Portal frames over the metro stations were part of the project plan from Day 1. Anyone can verify this by checking the official 3D concept renders released back in July 2023.

2. Adjusting column placements and adding portal frames to suit road geometry, underground utilities, and diaphragm load paths is standard engineering execution—it is called a “Structural Design Modification” or “Design Change Request (DCR)”, depending on the stage of the process.

Before claiming a "₹621 Cr waste" or spreading panic for clicks and ad revenue, creators—especially licensed architects—should fact-check the original DPR visuals readily available in the public domain.

The stormwater drainage infrastructure developed in chennai is the finest such system i have ever seen in india... Monsoon patterns may change in the years to come but i sincerely hope these systems will continue to protect chennai even then.

More than the flyovers built during your tenure as mayor or any other infrastructure projects undertaken in chennai... it is this stormwater drainage system for which you will always be remembered in history.
