Mercury, a naturally occurring metal used in various applications, poses significant health and environmental risks.
WHO recognizes mercury as one of the top ten chemicals of major public health concern.
A survey in selected countries in the region revealed a steady procurement of mercury-added devices from 2016 to 2020. The project aims to eliminate these devices from healthcare settings over the next 5 years.
Mercury waste management will be a critical component of this effort.
Practice good hand hygiene frequently and properly to protect against bacterial, respiratory, and diarrheal diseases, including:

✅ Influenza
✅ Common colds
✅ Salmonellosis

Thank you, H.E President Denis Sassou-N’Guesso for hosting the @summitof3basins in #Brazzaville, #Congo 🇨🇬. Great to see strong commitment by leaders to conserve & restore biodiversity ecosystems.
Pleased to be part of @summitof3basins in #Brazzaville, #Congo 🇨🇬, on preserving biodiversity ecosystems. Nature is our greatest source of health and well-being, but biodiversity loss is happening at unprecedented rates, impacting human health.
Water is not an infinite resource.
We need to stop taking it for granted.
What we eat and how that food is produced all affect water.
On #WorldFoodDay@FAO calls on countries to take greater #WaterAction for food.
