It shattered entire homes. It left parents burying children, siblings mourning siblings, and survivors carrying wounds that will follow them for the rest of their lives. Activists have cited a toll of more than 100,000 Iranians killed in just two days. Behind that horrifying figure are moments like this. A father searching for words. A wounded brother about to learn that Mohsen is gone. A family whose life has been divided forever into before and after. MOHSEN ABBASI. A SON OF IRAN. Never reduce him to a number. Never forget the father who had to deliver this unbearable news. Never forget the brother who survived only to wake up to a world without him. Only a parent whose heart has been burned by the loss of a child can truly understand the “pain of the heart” this father is describing. Mohsen should still be here. Never forgotten.
