Eritrean Community Festival in the Netherlands
The Eritrean community festival in the Netherlands was colorfully conducted on 18 and 19 July in Amsterdam.
At the festival, which was officially opened by Mr. Negasi Kassa, Eritrea’s Ambassador to the European Union and the Benelux countries, Mr. Zerai Gebru, Chairman of the Eritrean Community, and Mr. Isak Minasie, Head of Public and Community Affairs, said that the colorful festivals being celebrated by the Eritrean community attest to the strong unity and resilience of the Eritrean people. They also congratulated the Eritrean people and Government.
Mr. Kibreab Tewolde, Head of Consular Affairs, said that contributing to development projects is the responsibility of every citizen, as demonstrated by the strong participation observed in organizing the festival.
Ambassador Negasi also conducted a seminar for the participants, focusing on the objective situation in the homeland, regional and global developments, as well as the contribution of Eritrean communities to national development programs.
The festival featured sports competitions, traditional clothing fashion shows, children’s programs, as well as cultural and artistic performances by a cultural troupe from #Eritrea, among others.

A new Miss World chapter is about to begin as Eritrea prepares to make its debut at the 75th Miss World Festival in Vietnam. Representing the East African nation is Snit Habteab, a neuroscientist, educator and disability rights advocate.

The Society of Eritrean Earth Scientists and Mining Engineers held its annual conference on 24–25 July in Asmara under the theme “Professional Engagement for Building Shared Values in Mining.” Chairman Mr. Daniel Woldeyohannes stressed that sustainable mining development rests not only on technical excellence but also on collaboration, knowledge sharing, professional integrity, and collective commitment. The gathering brought professionals together to exchange experience and support the responsible growth of Eritrea’s mining sector.
Fourteen research papers were presented, covering Environmental Impact Assessment, the Bisha Processing Plant, Eritrea’s Mining Strategic Roadmap, Zara Mining updates, and the overall state of the industry. Participants also discussed the role of mining professionals in public awareness and the opportunities and challenges posed by Artificial Intelligence. Founded in December 2019, the Society now has more than 300 members.
