Pakistan's Final Tax Regime of 0.25% has been extended through Tax Year 2029 under Section 154A of the Income Tax Ordinance.

This matters more than it might appear. Outsourcing contracts frequently run five to seven years. A foreign client evaluating Pakistan as an outsourcing destination today had no guarantee, before this extension, that the rate would hold beyond Tax Year 2026. That uncertainty had a real cost: it made Pakistan harder to recommend to risk-averse procurement teams at international companies.

With the extension to TY2029, PSEB-registered IT and ITES companies can now bid on multi-year engagements and give clients a credible answer on tax position for the duration of the contract.

P@SHA's position is that the next step must be converting this into a permanent statutory exemption before the 2029 review cycle.
