9/ The 3rd & most important of those #3Asks is to End truancy laws. Never should these be used as a stick with which to beat parents. There’s no evidence that they change parental behaviour, and cannot ever change instances where something other than parental behaviour is at play
8/ @notfineinschool and @teamsquarepeg offer two much better solutions as part of their #3Asks – a MH absence code so that these absences can be properly identified and an Attendance Code of Practice so that schools do better when it comes to attendance registers.
