The #Somali Government has now cut off the #salaries and #allowances of the orphans of some of the military officers most recently #killed in the fighting between #AlShabaab and government forces across various regions in southern #Somalia.
It has been reported that the orphans affected are the children of deceased #military officers, including Colonel Sullage, Colonel Shahnacabo, and other members who lost their lives in fights across parts of #Somalia.
Previously, these children were provided with financial support derived from their late fathers' service, but the government has now cut off these funds.

Demonstrators in Beledweyne, the capital of Somalia’s Hiiraan region, held an anti-government protest on thrusday , chanting slogans against President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
Witnesses said protesters gathered in parts of the city carrying out chants including, “Down Hassan Sheikh,” expressing opposition to the president’s administration.

Al-Shabaab Sustains High Operational Activity in Somalia and Kenya
During the 30-day reporting period, at least 29 Al-Shabaab-related incidents were recorded across Somalia and Kenya, including 24 in Somalia and at least 5 in Kenya. In Somalia, activity was concentrated in Lower Shabelle, particularly around Janale, Buulo Mareer, Qoryooley, Buufow and Ceel Waregow, with additional incidents in Bay, Gedo, Middle Shabelle, Mogadishu and Lower Juba.
Reported attacks included IEDs, ambushes, armed assaults and targeted killings, primarily against Somali security forces, military positions and allied military bases. The increased tempo appears linked to Al-Shabaab’s efforts to disrupt sustained military pressure, exploit isolated or vulnerable positions, and maintain freedom of movement along key routes and operational areas.
In Kenya, at least five incidents were reported in Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Lamu, mainly targeting KDF, GSU and other security personnel and positions, including patrols and camps. The pattern indicates continued cross-border pressure and attempts to test Kenyan security deployments along the Somalia border and the Lamu-Garissa corridor.
Despite the increase in attacks compared with previous months, Somali and Kenyan security forces continued counterterrorism operations, disrupting Al-Shabaab networks and preventing or dismantling several planned activities. The overall picture therefore remains one of sustained militant activity alongside continuing security-force pressure on Al-Shabaab’s operational networks.
