✍️Religious leaders playing a key role in empowering young people with access to age appropriate information on #ASRHRS is a great step towards addressing #drugabuse #unsafesex, #unplannedpregnancies, new #HIV infections and #SGBV . This collaboration also creates a safe environment for young people to access #CSE, openly discuss their challenges, and receive information on #mentalhealth so that they are able to make informed decisions and protect themselves from vulnerability.

✍️Collaborating with religious leaders in Yimbo West, Bondo Sub-county, we engaged 24 young mothers at Usenge Church in a dialogue session on #contraceptives, #ASRHRS, #unsafeAbortion #GBV empowering them to make informed decisions for their reproductive health.
✍️The session provided in-depth information on key reproductive health topics, such as:
I) Different contraceptive methods: Pills, IUDs, implants, condoms, injections.
II) Benefits and side effects of each method
Choosing the right method for individual needs.
III) Importance of spacing pregnancies for maternal and child health.
IV) Dispelling common myths and misconceptions about contraceptives.
✍️The session positively impacted participants by:
I) Deepening their understanding of contraceptive methods.
II) Empowering them to make informed decisions regarding family planning.
III) Increasing their awareness of the health benefits of spacing pregnancies.
IV) Fostering a supportive community among participants through dispelling common myths and misconceptions about contraceptives
✍️6 young mothers expressed interest to access contraceptive and HTS services as well becoming peer educators to organise continuous sessions within their community groups.
✍️Participants shared personal stories of overcoming reproductive health challenges.

-Collaboratea with community and partners to organize follow-up sessions and outreaches for continued learning, access to #SRHR services and support.
-Encourage community gate keepers to become advocates for family planning within their communities.

✍️We successfully conducted a two-day communities dialogue on the #tripplethreat in peri-urban & rural communities, as well as components of #CSE, #ASRHRS, and #lifeskills, in the West Sakwa and West Yimbo wards of Bondo Subcounty.
✍️With support of @TICAH_KE. Other community stakeholders, including Indigenous religious leaders, the Luo Council of elders, traditional midwives, CHPs, teachers, parents, adolescents, young mothers , BMU leaders, youth leaders, community gatekeepers, and local media, participated in the discussions led by the area chief.
✍️The conversations focused on aspects of #teen_pregnancy, #unsafeAbortion among young girls in and out of schools, access to information and #contraceptive services, #HIV & #STIS,reporting & follow up of #GBV & #SGBV cases in communities.
✍️The teams commited to immediate measurable action points to advance #CSE in communities, support value clarification, promote progressive cultural beliefs and practices on #contraceptive information and service uptake as efforts towards ending the #tripplethreat in Siaya County.

☑️We held a community dialogue meeting with parents of young mothers and community gate keepers on how to advocate for #ASRHRS and #CSE, it was evident that lack of proper policies in place, inadequate access to knowledge & information are major contributing factors to cases of #teen_pregnancy in the rural communities.

✍️When young people are early informed of their growth and development, provided with age appropriate information on their sexual health, they grow up knowing how to make right and correct choices through their social interactions and relationships.

As students resume for the third term sessions, we have held focused group discussion with parents from 4 different primary schools around Bondo Subcounty targeting 80 parents and 20 teachers on importance of #CSE, #Lifeskills and #ASRHRS in & out of school. Discussions focused on.
1. Cases of school drop among girls and boys, reason for drop outs i.e due to marriage, poverty, child labour mostly from uncontrolled mining and fishing communities around the beaches or generally due to lack of progress in class.
2. Involvement of parents in growth and development education of #AYP where 80% of parents admitted to have never talked to their young people on #puberty, #Adolescentes as majorly they have left the discussion for teachers and community teachers.
3. The importance of CSE for learners in school and young people out of school young people,the challenge young people face due #CSE, #Lifeskills and #ASRHRS that sometimes has led to Incorrect information about #contraceptives, Discussed on how best #CSE programs can be integrated for out of school children and the preferred time and places to conduct CSE session
4. Human Rights, #GBV and #SGBV, discussion revolved around common cause in the family set up, community and school, 2 out of 5 parents indicated that mostly perpetrators are family members or close family members. Alot of this cases are left unreported and unresolved.
5. Men and boys involvement in community empowerment session as girls and women have been consider for a long time now.
Parents requested for integration of sessions with community activities, train community educators and strengthen community safe spaces, the session should also be integrated during school meetings as a way of parents' sensitization and involvement.
