Eileen Chubb @CompassnInCare founded Compassion In Care after blowing the whistle on abuse at a BUPA care home in 1999. She lost her job. So did six colleagues. The residents they tried to protect kept suffering.
That was 25 years ago. Eileen never stopped.
Compassion In Care runs a confidential helpline for whistleblowers and families failed by the care system. They take no money from the care industry. No government funding. Completely independent. That is the only reason they can say what they say.
Last year they put out a public call asking people to share their experiences of UK healthcare regulators. The CQC @CareQualityComm. The GMC @gmcuk. The NMC @nmcnews.
Over 27,000 complaints came back in the first few months alone.
Not complaints about nurses or doctors. Complaints about the watchdogs. The bodies that are supposed to hold the system to account. The official channels NHS whistleblowers are told to trust when their employer turns on them.
Families Against Involuntary Medical Euthanasia @EoLWatch said it plainly: the institutions responsible for oversight have been corrupted. Cover-up culture is embedded in the NHS, social care, the police, and the judiciary. There is nowhere for whistleblowers and wronged families to turn. Not any official body.
27,000 people confirmed it.
The regulators have not explained it. Nobody has been asked to. And the people who tried to raise concerns keep losing their jobs, their careers, and sometimes far more than that.

@ChrisGovernale It's a favourite with the #antipatient folk. Howard accused the founder of @MISSDFoundation Wendy Dolin of being a 'grifter' after the brilliant MISSD London Underground campaign raising awareness of #akathisia. Doing the job #psychiatry has failed to do. To it's eternal shame.
@ayaalaa17000754 I think @ProfRobHoward will soon tell you that you are just a troll. Because of this kind of #antipatient doctors people who really are harmed from commonly used drugs are left untreated. This professor has never answered to us as intellectual people do. Tells a lot.

@BecauseIMatter @dranniehickox All patient voices are important. All lived-experience--whether good or bad--is critical to improve outcomes. Whilst it may be tempting to call out people you don't agree with, perhaps it's time to expand our perspective & recognize Ridiculing either side is simply #AntiPatient.
