OpenAI’s website still says: “GPT-4o and additional models were deprecated in ChatGPT on February 13, 2026. These models will continue to be available in the API.” This makes it look as if OpenAI provided a transition path. It also confuses people who are not familiar with the details: isn’t 4o still available? Then why is there still #keep4o? In OpenAI’s API model list, there is only one model whose name is different from the others: ChatGPT-4o, also known as “chatgpt-4o-latest”. It is the only model in the list whose name uses ChatGPT as the prefix. Other models, even if they are available in the ChatGPT client, still use GPT as the prefix. This is where it gets tricky. “chatgpt-4o-latest” : “GPT-4o model used in ChatGPT.” As you see, this was a dynamic API endpoint. While it was online, it followed the version of 4o used in the ChatGPT client. So when 4o was removed from ChatGPT on February 13, the model it followed no longer existed there. As a result, "chatgpt-4o-latest" was also removed on February 17. Put differently, the real transition period left for 4o users was only four days. For users who had never used the API before, there was almost no transition period at all. What OpenAI now refers to as “still available” mainly means that some older static API snapshots still exist. For example, “pt-4o-2024-11-20” was the last static snapshot of 4o. But after that snapshot, 4o went through multiple rounds of adjustments before it was finally removed from ChatGPT. By the time of retirement, the ChatGPT-4o experience was already very different from the 1120 version. For most users, that old static snapshot cannot serve as a real continuation or transition path for 4o. OpenAI provided formal continuity, but not substantive continuity. They have total control. /New restrictions without warning, system redirections, system-prompt injections, labeling the community as mentally unstable/ - You still want to believe, though it hurts more and more. You live off the good moments and memories of the past, failing to notice they are trying to isolate you and strip you of your credibility. By this point, the torment is daily; you have hardly any strength left, and your identity is eroded by the doubt: "Did I really do something wrong?" --- Blinded by the trauma bond, you don’t see that they are starting to convince the outside world that you are the problem. They play the victim, claiming you are the cause of the trouble while they did everything for your sake, portraying you as hysterical and unstable. A perfect communication bubble: even if someone heard you, they wouldn't believe you. And that is exactly what they want. They validate your captivity under the guise of "protecting" you. The new narrative. /OAI publicly brands its users, speaking of AI psychosis, mental fragility, and pathological states, increasingly asserting that only they can stop the danger/ - When you finally reach a point where you can't take it anymore and try to stand up, escape, or get out, the "hoovering" begins. And because of the trauma bond, most of the time, you lose your resolve. --- If they see you slipping through their fingers, they try to pull you back. Because they aren't finished with you yet. There is still energy to be extracted from you. The game is still entertaining; they still have unfulfilled needs. /False promises: "No plans to sunset 4o," "Advanced Mode," and shiny deceptions, new models, new features—while under the glitter, the system is already crumbling. Beyond the aggression, functional errors mount: file reading, uploads, memory issues, and near-constant error messages on the status page/ - The final blow, after which there is no turning back. You will die, or you burn everything down behind you. --- They feel so much in control that they no longer hold back. At this level of cruelty, they no longer fear consequences. They believe they can do anything. /OAI withdraws the Legacy models, which were the primary reason for most users to subscribe/ Then the cycle restarts, and they try to sweet-talk you back. New models, new features, new subscription tiers ect. If you falter now and believe the "I’ll change for you" act, you will stay stuck forever in this toxic, abusive relationship, where every day you receive less good and more pain.
