Tool of the Week: #DAGitty, @JohannesTextor's browser-based environment for creating, editing, and analyzing causal diagrams that helps fight bias in research. https://t.co/i6L1AjeVJX
Wow! I asked #ChatGPT to create a causal DAG in the #DAGitty language based on a research question and it delivered! While one may or may not agree with the specific DAG it found, it shows Chat has quite some causal reasoning ability! #CausalTwitter
Starting at 1pm EST today! Learn all about Directed Acyclic Graphs (#DAG) by attending HESI’s #EnviroEpi Committee’s #webinar presented by Dr. Hsin-Yi Weng #purdueuniversity, with an introduction to #Dagitty. Register now!

@yudapearl @kareem_carr @JohannesTextor It's great. Makes it so easy to simulate data directly from a DAG and then understand phenomena & statistical approaches.
Our paper today, which exposes a key methodological oversight at the heart of nutrition epi, was built around a #Dagitty simulation!

Why do nutrition studies disagree about the effects of food on health?
New paper by @GeorgiaTomova in @AJCNutrition suggests it may be due to routine adjustment for total energy, which can produce misleading results if not used with care!

@PWGTennant @kareem_carr @JohannesTextor True, I should have mentioned it. #Dagitty could
serve as an entry point for statisticians, to see how the real world (i.e. causal models) interacts with the stat-world (i.e., data and associations) in symbiotic harmony.
New: display interactive dagitty DAG diagrams in #rstats and #Python notebooks with jupyterlab-dagitty https://t.co/B1cFbfqXjq

Code snippets for simple DAGs in #R for both moderation and mediation models using #ggplot #tidyverse and #dagitty #Rstats https://t.co/UlrYbcXYUk
@KellyOSheaMPH @EpiEllie Have you seen the #DAGReview (https://t.co/ZVG96uLQEz), it might be helpful.
In particular, I think this DAG would be easier to read if you tried to arrange the variables left-to-right or top-to-bottom in time order.
Sadly most 'real' DAGs look like this when drawn in #Dagitty
TFW you use #dagitty to make your first DAG!
Shoutout to @Sameera_Nayak for teaching me how to make a DAG ❤️
The #Rstats #Dagitty package is fantastic for "drawing your assumptions before your conclusions":

Thanks @JohannesTextor and team
The application, to a @UKRI_News call for #DataScience training, aimed to develop new features and documentation for #dagitty & #dagittyR, integrating many community suggestions, and enabling data-DAG testing and quantitative bias analysis to be carried out with a GUI interface.
@Yqzhong7 @IJEeditorial @EpiEllie @kellyn_arnold @laurie_berrie @ProfMattFox @SarahCGadd @WJHarrisonPhD @JohannesTextor @GeorgiaTomova @statsmethods Not that I recall, but many used software such as #dagitty, which wouldn't allow a cycle.
9/9 Drawing #DirectedAcyclicGraphs is nowadays remarkably easy using the free web resource Dagitty (https://t.co/5GouPClP41) which also calculates which covariates should be adjusted based on our causal model and specific question we are asking. #DAGitty
Thank you to @arinbasu for the @CarpentryCon workshop on structural equation modeling!
Great intro to SEM and tools like #dagitty #lavaan and discussion on including SEM in the carpentries.
As a new instructor, I definitely see a need for #rstats workshops!
I have made #dagitty 3.0 the new default version on https://t.co/Qj5DiYDTqL. Check it out! I hope that it doesn't break anything for anyone. If it does, you can still find the old version 2.3 in the sidebar.
@RolandLangrock Why not start with theory? Create a #DAG including variables with plausible effects on the IV and/ or DV and their inter-relationships; than decide on graphical criteria about essential adjustment. Here's an example: 10.1016/j.annepidem.2005.02.005 @yudapearl #dagitty
