Wouldn’t have my job as Executive Director of @CTLegalRights were it not for a civil commitment first year of law school & so many things that have happened in decades since. Sick and tired of media portrayals of people living with mental health conditions. I am #DisabledAndGood
#DisabledAndGood means that growing up I felt shame... but inside I was happy to be ME. I then instead learned to not be shameful about my disabilities to be PROUD of it. To represent, model, show that we are capable, that we are HUMAN!
@cherryrae #DisabledAndGood I have moments I have my disability. I'd never wish this on my worst enemy. But instead I chose to bring awareness and help others understand it. I have a service dog that improves my life. I'm no longer afraid of the diagnosis.
Being disabled has taught me to think & question. Theres hard questions about humanity & exclusion, crumbling resilience, anxiety.
But also a lesson I learned very young (still am learning): that we’re stronger with interdependence, love, respect & solidarity. #DisabledAndGood

Being #DisabledAndGood means I can communicate in so many different ways with a community who shares the same values and beliefs as I do.
Despite getting injured at the age of two in a car accident I'm not spiteful and I don't put down others to push them to do more. I only work to be the best version of myself I can be and help others get there too as a bioengineer, advocate, and friend.

I came to college with the goal of learning how to save the world, or at least saving the ecosystems that I can.
I want to make the world safe for my fellow disabled folks.
I want to garden and have cats and spend hours among the trees.

@cherryrae What makes me #DisabledAndGood is that I am trying to raise my son to see disability as the normal thing that it is--we are all just human beings who want to enjoy the same world he does.
I also am trying to help spread knowledge on game accessibility, but that is rather new. 😸
