Willow is hiding under the table from the fireworks. I live in a very rural area so there will only be a few, thankfully.
I really feel for pets in urban areas tonight #dogshatefireworks
Has anyone managed to outlaw #Fireworks in their area? Cuz #DogsHateFireworks #FireworksPollute #StopTheFireworks
Great time at First Night with friends. Now it’s time to keep Cooper calm during the fireworks. Hope you are having a lovely eve! 🎆

Sigh.
Fireworks round us now into their 3rd hour.
Dog has moved from behind my chair to upstairs bathroom, and now headed into our en-suite.
And we have another 3 weeks of this with Diwali following Bonfire Night,
Joyous.

#Dogshatefireworks True Story! We tried to quote tweet a reply we gave to an awesome person that helps save pups and had the same question and the video in the tweet starting playing… the fireworks were going off… And poor 🐶 Amber went off in a frenzy! Phone went up in the air & not sure where tweet went. 🙃
Here it is copied and pasted:
Pledges are DEFINITELY important. Occasionally a 🐶’s story resonates with someone and they step up to foster/adopt. This is not the norm - especially with so many dogs surrendered & in need of homes. 😔
Most of the time, however, dogs in ☠️ lists 💔 are reserved by a rescue. These pups are usually anxious, have sadly deteriorated in the shelter, and need what we call “decompression” time. Usually, the more time a dog spends in a cage w/o interaction or sedated with drugs like Trazadone, Gabapentin, etc the more TLC ❤️🩹 they will need.
When a rescue reserves a shelter dog, the rescue sponsors the dog with the help of a foster and supports the dog+foster until the dog is adopted. 😇 The rescue and foster essentially do the hard work (help the pup feel safe/loved again) and preps the pup to be find their forever home. Fosters can have the rescue pup anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.
Funds from pledges go to basics like food, dog beds, heartworm/tick prevention, and regular shots/vet care. They can also go to unexpected medical care and, in some cases, important things like special help from a trainer to work on specific behaviors. If a foster backs out 😕 or the foster ends up not being a good match the pledges may go to boarding.
Sometimes a rescue can gauge training needs baed on behavioral assessments done by the shelter. However, some behaviors may show up once out of the shelter since pups - just like humans - have their own quirks.
Like us! Amber was rescued from the floods in Louisiana in 2016. It was only after she got home that we discovered that the sound of glass clinking or keys jiggling (and the Perfection game! 😆) would set her in a frenzy 😵💫 so we worked on desensitizing her to it.
Hope your 4th is fun, safe, and a total blast! 💡 Remember to put pets inside before the show! #FireworkSafety #DogsHateFireworks

I thought fireworks were illegal in caledon. Jerks across the street set them off for a half hour terrorizing our family rescue dog. We had to leave our house and go for a long car ride to ease her panic attack. Is it that hard to follow the rules??? #dogshatefireworks

Anyone with pets get this on if fireworks are going off later.. it worked magic here last night on my rescue dogs and my ptsd #banfireworks #fireworksnight #dogshatefireworks
Anyone who's beloved pet is suffering from #DogsHateFireworks please consider looking at these free resources from @dogstrust (a UK rehoming charity) Desensitising your pal is well worth the effort https://t.co/QIle5Sg6xq it won't work for every pet, but I've seen amazing results
Nash is on the bed with my mom, shaking from the fireworks. I got up to hold his paw and tell him everything will be okay. I feel so bad for my friend. ☹️

Poor Nash - he’s so afraid of fireworks. Hiding in the blanket with his chicken helps.

If this is your first dog, please know most are afraid of fireworks! My Minnie was terrified! She’d get so frightened, she’d climb all over me, pressing her little body into mine, HARD! She had such strength. Her ThunderShirt didn’t calm her. Stay calm.❤️🐶🇺🇸

A staggering amount of dogs 🐕 and cats 🐈 go missing each year – in fact 1️⃣ out of every 3️⃣ pets will go missing at some point in their life.
