Today, we successfully hosted the 2nd International Workshop on Fairness and Robustness in Machine Learning for Ubiquitous Computing (#FairComp) 2024, co-located with ACM @UbiComp/@ISWCNET Conference, at the stunning @SofitelMelbourn. The day was filled with insightful presentations and lively discussions, covering a broad range of key topics in the field. We kicked off with a thought-provoking keynote by @dgaticaperez titled "Participatory AI & UbiComp: For Whom? For What?" that set the tone for the day. Following this, we had an outstanding series of talks by Moh'd Khier Al Kfari, Sizhen Bian, Eunsu Baek, Zhiqing Hong, Hari Venugopalan, Shuoyuan Wang, and Jin Zhang, delving into critical areas such as #robustness, #generalization, and domain adaptation in #Ubicomp. On behalf of all the organizers, I extend my heartfelt thanks to all the speakers and participants for making this event a success. We’re already looking forward to the next edition of FairComp! @lakmalbuddika, @spdimitris, @comarios, Sofia Yfantidou, Han Zhang, @nielsvberkel, and @aninddey

✨My first day at ACM @UbiComp 2023. Great talks by @akhilmathurs and @flosalim around fairness in ubicomp/sensing. A lot more needs to be done as a community, to solve these issues. We are still scratching the surface. #faircomp #ubicomp #cancun #mexico

Anyone who cares about ebook circulation, IA, digital loans, and waitlists needs to read this breakdown so you can move forward with an informed pov. Seems a lot of people don't understand everything involved. Jill can help you with that. #faircomp #library #WritingCommunity

Let’s talk about ebook licensing. I know for some readers, the idea of having to wait for an ebook makes zero sense because it’s just a digital file. But that’s not how publishers treat them. They treat them like print books, which you would also have to wait for 1/16
