Today, we head to Butebo District at Kamenyamugongo Center for yet another life-changing outreach a special one that marks the final outreach of the #IEHS project’s first year of implementation as we head to the second year.
This moment reflects our unwavering commitment to the very end: bringing inclusive, equitable, health care services closer to the communities.
From the first outreach to this final one, every step has been driven by the mission to build healthier, more informed, and more empowered communities. We are proud it's a goal.

Strengthening Partnerships for Healthier Communities — #IEHS Project Donor Visit.
Following our successful donor engagements in Budaka District on Thursday, our strong collaboration continues to deepen relationships among the project stakeholders while advancing strategies toward achieving healthier communities through the #IEHS Project initiatives.
Yesterday, in Bukedea District, we extended a warm welcome to our donor Ms. Freya Fischer who was acompanied by the UYAHF programs manager and the rest of the @UYAHF1 team as we continued strengthening partnerships through a visit to Kolir Health Centre III, where volunteers from @Germandoctors provide invaluable support such as facility consultations.
The facility Ass. in-charge, Ms. Acham Carol, expressed her appreciation for the German Doctors’ continued assistance particularly through community outreaches, mobile clinics, and the GD facility consultations, which have significantly increased service reach and impact.
The Village Health Teams (VHTs) also commended the #IEHS Project for providing essential training and equipment that have made their home visits more effective, especially in managing chronic conditions such as high blood pressure and simplifying patient referrals. This collaboration with the Ministry of Health through existing health facility systems not only strengthens partnerships but also enhances local health systems, improving service delivery in the vulnerable communities.
Today, we were delighted to host Ms. Freya Fischer, the Project Coordinator of the #IEHS Project on behalf of German Doctors. The visit began at the Mbale Field Office where lots of discussions happened including the work planning for the next project phase basing on what the project has been able to achieve so far. The team later proceeded to Kebula Health Centre III in Budaka where they met the facility team including the VHTs and had insightful conversations.
Still at Kebula, a dialogue was held on the impact of the IEHS Project, highlighting ongoing activities, key challenges, and strategies to strengthen coordination between @UYAHF, @GermanDoctors, and the participating health facilities going forward.
Ms. Naula Doreen, the facility in-charge expressed mutual appreciation for the strong partnership and collaboration. She on behalf of the team acknowledged the project’s significant contribution to improving maternal health indicators at the facility, promoting family planning, and addressing teenage pregnancy within the community.

IMPACTED GRATEFUL HEARTS:
Akello Jane, a nurse at Akuoro HCIII, expressed deep gratitude for the impact of the #IEHS Project in her community.
"These communities often lack access to even the most basic health services," she said. "This outreach has brought hope and healing to places where it’s needed most. We are truly thankful for this support—it’s making a real difference in people’s lives."
Asio Carol, a mother of two, also echoed this appreciation, describing this clinic as life-changing.
"My children received deworming medicine, and my youngest got her final vaccines. The health facility is very far from us, but today, it feels like a miracle. Thank you so much, German Doctors, for your incredible support. May God bless you all."
In only a single mobile clinic at Kanyipa, more than 220 individuals were reached with life-saving interventions. Among them, 83 adolescent girls received the HPV vaccine—an important step in the fight against cervical cancer. In addition, 50 young people were immunized against tetanus, while 45 children were protected through measles vaccination.
This milestone marks a significant stride toward improving community health, particularly among mothers and children, and reinforces our commitment to accessible, preventative healthcare for all. @MinofHealthUG @germandoctorske @FarajaAfricaFdn @SonkeTogether #IEHS

Our entire team is in Mbale city for a three days Child protection and safeguarding training supported by the @germandoctorske under the #IEHS project.
With a technical facilitator from Kenya, the three days will see our staff taken through key elements of safe guarding and child protection, understanding existing safeguarding policies and their applicability in our implementation, skills in ensuring safety of children among others.

To a heartwarming social evening with our incredible volunteer @germandoctorske Dr. Winand & Dr. Thomas as we bid farewell two months ago after 3 months of transformative support under the #IEHS project.
From treating back pain and gastric issues in hard to reach communities, to training local health workers on accurate diagnosis and record keeping, their dedication left a lasting impact. Through mobile clinics and community outreaches, they brought quality care and compassion right to the grassroots.
With laughter, and heartfelt reflection, we celebrated their legacy of healing and humanity.
To Dr. Winand & Dr. Thomas, thank you for being part of the UYAHF family and for strengthening grassroots healthcare in Uganda.

#IEHS Q2 health Workers & VHT training
Ongoing:
The 2nd quarter training for health workers and VHTs kicked off yestarday starting with Butebo District at the district headquarters. Teams from Kabwangasi HC III, Butebo HC IV, and communities like Bukomolo, Doko, and Bukatikoko gathered to tackle maternal and child health, communicable and non communicable health issues head-on.
Led by Sister Lillian Anasho Enwaku, a ministry of health certified trainer, the session focused on:
▷Building trust with young people on SRH to mitigate early pregnancies & unsafe abortions
▷Promoting open, non-judgmental conversations at home especially on home visits by the VHTs
▷Delivering comprehensive SRHR education, especially to teenagers and young mothers.
▷Encouraging safe deliveries in health facilities over traditional remedies
While Dr. Thomas Schroeter a volunteer doctor from the @germandoctorske while leading a session also emphasized:
▷Keeping children's immunization cards updated
▷Early referrals for conditions like asthma & pneumonia
▷Supporting proper infant care, feeding, hygiene, and father involvement
This training is part of our ongoing efforts under the #IEHS project to strengthen community health systems.

We have set camp in Budaka district at Mivule primary school for a two days integrated community outreach unde our #IEHS project as we kick off with our quarter two outreach activities across the four districts of the projects implementation.
The numbers are really overwhelming as community members including the elderly,expectant mothers, adolescents, children among others receive a wide range of free health services including: Disease screening and testing, maternal health support, HIV testing, counseling, general medical consultations, family planning and community health education.
We are glad to have Dr. Winand Lange, one of the volunteer @germandoctorske providing services to the community.

This weekend, we where excited to welcome the first batch of the volunteer @germandoctorske to Uganda under our #IEHS project. Their arrival marks a major milestone in our shared mission to enhance healthcare access and quality in undeserved communities.
The visit from of the Doctors brings a new level of support to the project fostering medical expertise, meaningful knowledge exchange, and holistic patient care across local health facilities.

under the #IEHS project, we have partnered with @MinofHealthUG through Butebo district local government specifically the Health department to extend our quarterly integrated community outreaches to the under served communities.
Hundreds of community members including children and students have convened to receive free Health services around Maternal Child Health, non communicable diseases and health education.
Our medical team and health workers from Kanginima hospital are providing free comprehensive medical check ups, tests and treatments in various ailments, case managements, Ultra sound scans, Family planning, immunization and many more other healthcare services.
During a health education session held this morning by Miss Patience Kagayi a midwife at Kanginima hospital, community members including both men and women promised to reflect and take steps towards the call for family planning and build better homes for purposes of healthy timing and spacing of pregnancies.
Our integrated community outreaches being done across Butebo, Mbale, Budaka and Bukedea aims to bring closer health care services to the most vulnerable communities, promote primary healthcare to enhance community member's knowledge on health issues, and provide a platform for consultations to meet specific health care needs.

Empowering young mothers📢!
All the efforts of our team in the eastern region last week focused on establishing 8 young mothers forums (YMFs) in the 4 districts of Butebo, Budaka, Bukedea and Mbale under the #IEHS project.
This initiative commenced on 24th February 2025, in the bid to create safe spaces for adolescent and young mothers (10-24 years) where they can freely share about their motherhood experiences, meet with like minded and same character people plus have access to experts healthcare, life skills and livelihood education and awareness including financial skills & peer networks.
The young mother's Forum is a model designed to provide young mothers and Fathers (20-24 years), pregnant teenagers (11-19 years), Vulnerable adolescent girls and boys (10-19 years) with essential knowledge and support on safe motherhood, sexual and reproductive health, economic empowerment with a composition of 30 participants (30% AGYW and 70% AGYM) in each group.
The forums also create a safe space to share experiences, address challenges in accessing health care, understanding healthy timing and spacing of pregnancies, life skills, mental health nutrition, financial literacy and raising advocacy for Gender based violence prevention.
The week's thrilling moments for adolescent and young mothers enabled enrollments, competitive selections of their leaders and excitement for hopeful sustainable development that UYAHF'S Inclusive and Equitable Healthcare Services Project supported by the @germandoctorske is presenting to them.
