@conniechansf loves to talk up equity. during the #JFKDrive debate, which she also tried to muck with, she said eliminating cars would be racist and elitist, which is probably how she feels about adding housing in the first place https://t.co/xqh9lBhEyy

@conniechansf is back to say she hears the concerns about abuses, but that after really long meetings, including the one to keep cars off #JFKDrive, "it didn't change our minds." (Raises the question of what the whole point is when an official says hours of comments are moot.)

NEW STORY: With the @SafeParksForAll victory Tues night, #JFKDrive is now permanently @JFKPromenade. No one's had a bigger hand in it than @Sk8GodFather, building a skate community, fighting for more space, and pumping jams for decades. He was nervous Tuesday night /1

NEW: As #SF's vote count wraps up and we start to parse what the numbers mean, consider these questions: Is it moderate or progressive to close #JFKDrive to cars? Is it moderate or progressive to reject housing on a downtown parking lot, plus adding 130 affordable units? 1/

Cal Academy in Golden Gate Park “cordially invited” Parks Chief Phil Ginsburg to meet about its new mission to “regenerate the natural world” in San Francisco. The invitation got a ... less-than-cordial response. At issue? #JFKDrive https://t.co/FuD4kZ6Zgd

Just IMAGINE the type of fucking people who are fighting for the left picture vs the right picture... just imagine... It's a 2 mile stretch with 2 major roads either side of the park but nah let's make SF take a step back loool #sanfrancisco #goldengatepark #jfkdrive

Now to the not-so-secret garage in Golden Gate Park, at the core of the #JFKDrive debate: The resolution is adopted unanimously. Here's an ode to the facility: https://t.co/aZ7qtOVaEY

NEW: #JFKDrive in #SF's Golden Gate Park officially became the JFK Promenade in the spring, and now the roadway is becoming the Golden Mile, a canvas for murals. It's a transformation that would be inconceivable with cars cutting across it. 1/

Last year, reporter @low___impact realized that the entity that sets parking rates to pay down the construction debt doesn't participate in Golden Gate Park matters or #JFKDrive working groups; it doesn't even have a voice mailbox. Again, strange. https://t.co/xx0Df9Xr1o 6/

A proposal from @deyoungmuseum's parent the Fine Arts Museums of #SF, a local socialite, and Sup. @shamannwalton will reopen #JFKDrive to traffic. A competing measure from several members of @sfbos will codify the decision to keep it car-free. But wait, there's more. 3/

Come November, two measures will go before the voters to decide the ultimate fate of #JFKDrive. So far, the @deyoungmuseum asserts that the loss of free parking spaces "is impacting attendance.” Other attractions steps away don't have this problem, funny. https://t.co/TPRtWCGEA0

NEW: #JFKDrive in Golden Gate Park has been closed to cars since the #COVID pandemic, and city supervisors held a 12-hour meeting to make that permanent back in April. But there's one thing #SF loves, and that's a good fight. 1/

@AaronPeskin says come November the public can show their support for the 7 supervisors who supported car-free #JFKDrive or the 4 who want it open to private vehicles that compete for parking spots. That was the result of yet another agonizing meeting. https://t.co/a2fiHBdKjQ

Sup. @RafaelMandelman says #SF's progress toward a car-free #JFKDrive is a "positive outcome," and that dealing with the garage can help address some issues with keeping cars off the 1.5-mile roadway.
