Less than a month ago, TPLF forces controlled Alula Aba Nega International Airport, the main air hub of #Mekelle. Today, having lost the capital and the airport, its leadership is warning against any movement there, alleging military use, just as civilian flights and ordinary life are returning. It is a visible sign of desperation. Former fighters are seeking civilian reintegration, flights are returning, and the clearest signal from ordinary Tigrayans is exhaustion with war and a demand for normalcy. The danger that deserves attention now is therefore not some grand TPLF return to power, but the capacity of its increasingly desperate remnants to threaten civilians, infrastructure and recovery as their political control collapses.
