Not every day do we get the chance to collaborate internationally with groups just as passionate about player development as we are. Today, we welcomed Bertrand Théraulaz, one of the two original co-founders of Action Types—one of the most influential forces in motor signatures and motor preference of our generation. For years, I’ve been exploring motor preference concepts, and while they’ve started to gain traction in the United States, I kept running into too many gaps—ideas that just didn’t fully align or provide the clarity and depth our athletes need. That drove me to look deeper, to research further, and to connect with the originators of these concepts. This led us to Action Types, and the work of Bertrand Théraulaz and his team. This collaboration brings a whole new level of depth and complexity—solutions to questions I’ve been asking for years and insights that add layers of understanding far beyond what’s currently being taught. It’s not a knock on what’s been done so far, but rather a recognition that there’s so much more to explore, and this is a major step toward closing those gaps for our athletes. With roots in Sweden and others joining from London, this groundbreaking work is now making its way into North America. Aligning in this direction is a significant step for baseball, and we’re humbled to be part of this journey. Big day. Big future.
