175 pays de l'Organisation maritime internationale se sont engagés aujourd’hui à réduire drastiquement les émissions dans ce secteur et à atteindre la neutralité carbone à l’horizon 2050.
Avec deux objectifs intermédiaires :
→ Moins 30 % des émissions en 2030.
→ Moins 80 % en 2040.
Engager tous les acteurs du transport maritime dans un rythme de décarbonation à la hauteur de l'urgence climatique, voilà le but de cet accord.
Pour y arriver, ces 175 pays vont mettre en œuvre une tarification du carbone des navires, comme nous le faisons déjà en Européens.
Cette mesure, la France l’a portée lors du Sommet de Paris pour un Nouveau pacte financier mondial le mois dernier. Les travaux sont lancés. Ils devront aboutir en 2025, année de la Conférence des Nations unies sur les océans à Nice.
