Here’s my battle gear today w 7 mo old sidekick & motivation to prevent infection(s): med office not requiring masking so baby in Ford PAPR buggy fit tested at 341,000 🤯; Aranet4 readings max 700 👏; Levoit hepa; blowing papr hose at baby when out of stroller (not perfect 😩)

Recently I had the pleasure of testing a friend's PAPR-like device they use to protect baby during medical appointments. I was immediately concerned about the protection that it would offer once I learned it used a cheap PAPR-like unit from amazon.
Playing around with some new PTFE filtration material I got my hands on. Supposed to have some advantages over meltdown particularly in terms of durability. Might be suitable for #PAPRbuggy and home isolation tents. More to do, but so far, interesting🤔
1/21 What am I up to? Just testing 5 PAPRs against each other as is normal. All of these offer a high level of protection except one. Highly relevant to the #PAPRbuggy #pramPAPR #PAPR

@DaliaHasanMD Please see this thread from @michael_hoerger on the originals and best designs of #PAPRbuggy. Essentially you put a blower under a rain hood over your baby’s car seat or stroller to creat positive pressure.

Very interesting development, we now have pram covers made entirely out of melt-blown polypropylene (mask material). The huge surface area should make them very breathable, they seal better than rain hoods and would trap less heat and moisture.

So, today finally took the #PAPRbuggy at GP clinic with baby sitting in. Anemometer measured air flow at 0.1-0.2 m/s and baby was very comfortably sitting in it as well.
