Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani, Afghan acting Minister of Refugees and Repatriation, has made a startling revelation in a documentary released today, of how the former leader of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Baitullah Mehsud, secured his release after having been arrested in Pakistan, along with that of other high ranking Taliban leaders including Haji Mali Khan, Naseeruddin Haqqani, two brothers of top aide of Mullah Omar, Mullah Akhtar Muhammad Osmani and others, in an exchange of more than 300 Pakistani troops that had been detained by him.
Pertinent to note that Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani is the uncle of Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban deputy Supreme Leader and acting Afghan Interior Minister while while Haji Mali Khan is currently serving as the Afghan Deputy Chief of Army Staff.
