The decision of the #INDIAAlliance to boycott #proBJP #Anchors and bank on #antiModi #YouTube personalities is an interesting political and #media strategy.
On the one hand, it denies the ruling dispensation a platform to push its narrative through sympathetic TV anchors. This counters the alleged polarisation of #biased and #casteist #mainstream media.
However, the #YouTube journalists focused largely on attacking #ModiGovernment also do not further the India Alliance's #CORE #agenda - the demand for a #CasteCensus.
Their anti-government #rhetoric risks getting bogged down in point-scoring debates versus substantive issues people care about. It fails to offer a constructive alternative vision.
By not forcefully raising the caste census across all their engaged communications platforms, the #Opposition misses a chance to pivot the #discourse to their issues of #SocialJustice and #Representation.
A caste census would highlight neglected ground realities and potentially blunt communal messages by bringing #marginalised groups #centrestage.
To cut through increasing noise and cynicism, the #Alliance needs to channelize energies of both mainstream and new media towards its #transformative agenda, not just anti-establishment commentary.
#Substance over #selective #symbolism alone may swing undecided voters in their favour in the long run.
