A friendly football match held at the newly constructed @EU_in_Somalia-funded stadium in #Raskamboni on 15 May 2026 saw the local team secure a 1-0 victory over a #Kenyan side from Lamu, promoting sportsmanship, cross-border youth engagement and positive community interaction.

Unless #Egypt, #Turkiye, #SaudiArabia and #Qatar rebuild a strong #Somali military that can assure Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity from #Lowyacado to #RasKamboni, it will be a waste of time, money and lives. Time to end the tribal #Bantustans and restore #Somalia.
Egypt’s defence ministry released footage showing soldiers and military equipment, including aircraft, which it said are being deployed to Somalia as part of the African Union’s ATMIS mission, days after Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud visited Cairo this week.
Tensions are once again escalating in the #Gedo region.
Today, the first batch of armed militia was reportedly sent from Mogadishu to Gedo.
This appears to be preparation for a new conflict in Jubaland, following the deadly clashes in #RasKamboni last December which was orchestrated by the #Mogadishu mafia leader Hassan Sheikh.
On Monday, Hamza Abdi Barre held a secret meeting in Mogadishu with local media directors, reportedly lobbying them to support a pro-Mogadishu narrative as the situation in #Gedo escalates against the Jubaland leadership.
All this is happening just a week after the U.S. State Department @AsstSecStateAF warned Mogadishu that “decisions taken without broad-based support will lack legitimacy and distract from pressing security challenges.”
Hassan Sheikh is now not only undermining the federal system in #Somalia, but also igniting new conflicts that could turn deadly if not urgently addressed.
Neighboring countries #Kenya and #Ethiopia are also likely to be affected if Gedo plunges into full-blown conflict.
The region is home to various clans and communities, and any escalation risks turning into intercommunal violence. @US2SOMALIA @UKinSomalia @ForeignOfficeKE @UNTMIS_ @FranceinKenya @NLinKenya @NLinSomalia
The government of Somalia has deployed many forces in #Gedo region, after the tensions between Jubbaland and FGS have escalated.
#EverydaySomalia: This stunning aerial photos offers a breathtaking view of #Raskamboni, a serene coastal town nestled at the southernmost tip of #Somalia, where the land meets the Indian Ocean in a perfect harmony of colour and texture.

Following the defeat in #Raskamboni, the Somali federal government has escalated its economic war on Jubaland. @HSNQ_NISA agents in Mogadishu now threaten livestock carriers with license revocation if they export from Kismayo.
Meanwhile, Abu Yasser, the Saudi businessman granted control over Somalia’s livestock exports by the president, is forcing local sellers to pay commissions for export rights.
The fed gov seeks to undermine the president of Jubaland but end up hurting thousands of Somali traders, increasing local support for him. This collective punishment policy will only drive Jubaland to pursue greater autonomy from the central government in Mogadishu.
Somalia’s ex-State Minister of Planning, Abdirashid Jire, reveals that the only flights from #Nairobi allowed to land in Kismayo carry khat, with the Somali president taking a commission from those flights.
He says this political flight embargo doesn’t affect regional state officials, but is only meant to punish the citizens in Jubaland.
⚡️UPDATE: #Somalia's @JSStatehouse conducted an airlift on Sunday, returning around 50 #Somali national forces to the capital #Mogadishu after they were captured during clashes in #Raskamboni the previous week.

#Raskamboni Conflict Intelligence Briefing.
Intel Insight:
Recent intelligence reports reveal that Ahmed Madoobe funneled $200,000 to Al-Shabaab in exchange for safe passage for his troops, along with two suicide bombers who helped him execute an ambush against the SNA Gorgor units in Raskambooni. This transaction was reportedly arranged with Badru Diin Ahmed, the leader of Al-Shabaab in Jubaland and a close relative of Madoobe. Additionally, Madoobe received police support from President Mustafa of the Somali region in Ethiopia.
In a strategic move, Hassan Sheikh dispatched Gorgor units of the SNA, linked to former leaders Farmaajo and Sharif, with the intention of neutralizing this force rather than launching an offensive against Jubaland. His objective seemed to be sending these troops to their demise, which explains why a significant number of them chose to surrender to the Kenyan government.
The aftermath of the conflict resulted in 50 casualties, including 30 from the SNA and 20 from Madoobe's forces.
Intell Assessment:
It is clear that neither Ahmed Madoobe nor Hassan Sheikh are committed to genuine state-building or sustainable development at either the state or federal level. The time has come for the U.S. and EU nations to hold these political disruptors accountable, beginning with Madoobe, who has been effectively enabling Al-Shabaab for the past 13 years. Jubaland stands in urgent need of political reform that will benefit both its neighbors and Somalia as a whole. Hassan Sheikh's authoritarian approach poses a significant threat to Somalia’s future, and it is imperative for international donors to consider imposing financial sanctions on him and his associates.

#Somalia: A Warning and a Call for Accountability
The lives lost in the #Raskamboni battle, where Somali Federal Forces and Jubaland Forces clashed due to the federal government’s unwarranted interference in Jubaland's autonomy, demand immediate accountability.
We, the intellectuals of #Jubaland , will not tolerate the continued shedding of innocent blood caused by Mogadishu’s provocations. Until full responsibility is taken for these tragic events and justice is delivered, any negotiations with @TheVillaSomalia must remain off the table.
This is not merely a plea but a stern warning: failure to address the grievances of #Jubbaland citizens will have grave consequences. The growing agitation among our citizens risks erupting into revolt against leadership at all levels if decisive action is not taken.
Enough is enough. Justice must prevail.

#Jubaland forces seize #Raskamboni; #Somalia’s federal gov’t accuses Ahmed Madobe
Jubaland regional forces have taken control of Raskamboni town in southwestern Somalia after heavy clashes with Somali National Army (SNA) troops. The fighting reportedly began on Wednesday morning, with Jubaland accusing federal forces of initiating the conflict. Casualties remain unclear, but infrastructure damage has been reported.
Somalia's Ministry of Defence issued a statement accusing Jubaland leader Ahmed Islam Mohamed Madobe of collaborating with Al-Shabaab, warning of potential "legal actions" against those involved. Madobe, however, had previously cautioned the federal government against deploying troops to unseat him, urging President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre to honor his re-election for a third term.
Jubaland officials claim their forces now control key locations in Raskamboni, including a strategic airstrip. Reports indicate that over 300 federal troops crossed into Kenya, where they were disarmed by #Kenyan forces. Additionally, 240 federal soldiers are said to have surrendered to Jubaland troops, further consolidating the regional forces' position.

BREAKING - Jubaland accuses the Somali army of drone attack on its forces near Raskamboni leading to clashes, says dozens of Turkish-trained Gorgor soldiers surrendered during today's battle, per Jubaland deputy security minister Aden Ahmed.
He described as unfortunate the use of the weapons and drones provided by the International partners against "a peaceful" Federal state, instead of the intended Al-Shabaab war. #Somalia
⚡️UPDATE: #Somalia's opposition leaders have urged an urgent ceasefire in #Raskamboni, advocating for dialogue to settle ongoing conflicts and emphasizing the need for a fair electoral process that prevents any faction from achieving an unfair advantage, reflecting their commitment to a peaceful resolution and democratic integrity.

The reported bloody confrontations in #Raskamboni, Jubaland, are totally unnecessary and outrageous.
They must be stopped with immediate effect, as they serve no purpose other than emboldening Al Shabaab, the real enemy we were all supposed to fight. #Somalia

Escalating tension in #Raskamboni between the Federal Government of Somalia (#FGS) and #Jubaland State threatens our national stability and regional security against terrorism. We must favor political dialogue over force. Deploying federal forces to pressure the Jubaland President will only escalate the conflict. Military confrontation is not a solution; it risks prolonged political strife and greater insecurity, potentially leading to the fragmentation of our nation. Opting for diplomacy fosters mutual understanding, resolves conflicts, and is essential for a united future and sustainable progress.
⚡️UPDATE: All eyes are on #Raskamboni town, Lower Jubba region as fears of a confrontation between #Somali federal forces deployed by @TheVillaSomalia and @JSStatehouse grow.
The international community, now closely monitoring the situation, has previously called on both sides to avoid actions that could turn the political disagreement into armed conflict.

@SomaliPM @HamzaAbdiBarre A nice try in an attempt to change the channel. You failed to get to #raskamboni as you planned today. Your misery was compounded by Ina Suuban's treason to rename General Gordon's barracks. You will be held responsible for any blood shed in #Jubbaland
