Building on the partnership we launched last year, it was good to see Sumitomo Corporation President and CEO Shingo Ueno again in Tokyo 🇯🇵 and take stock of the progress made so far in our cooperation, including on nuclear energy, fusion, healthcare and capacity building.
We also looked ahead to new opportunities to bring the benefits of nuclear science and technology to more people, in Japan and beyond.
An important step for global cancer care: Together with 🇯🇵 @FujifilmJP_PR President and CEO Teiichi Goto, signed new agreements under #RaysOfHope to strengthen cooperation on medical imaging, training and access to cancer services. This builds on ongoing efforts to expand access to lifesaving technologies, including mammography units being delivered across Africa.

2nd Joint Task Force meeting under the @iaeaorg -@StJude partnership convened in Geneva as the collaboration approaches its one-year anniversary. Discussions focused on progress, lessons learned & next priorities to address inequities in global #ChildhoodCancer care. #RaysOfHope
#RaysofHope enhances access to #radiotherapy and essential capacity building. At #WHA79, @iaeaorg and Barbados’ delegation discussed the importance of strengthening national training systems and IAEA’s support in providing specialized training in radiation medicine.
At #WHA79, @iaeaorg and Guyana’s Minister of Health @fcsanthony1 reflected on ongoing collaboration under #RaysofHope that supported expansion of access to high-quality imaging services and enhanced workforce capacity in cancer care.
