My favourite read aloud book was Rebecca's World by Terry Nation. Exciting, hilarious and thrilling. I remember sitting at my teacher's feet, filled with joy, lightness and a desire to have an adventure for myself one day #ReasonstoReadAloud #readingforpleasure #readingrocks

@smithsmm @whatSFSaid I love reading anything by Roald Dahl...an absolute genius with words and they are better for being read out loud. #reasonstoreadaloud

@smithsmm Clockwork for me is read aloud perfection. When I last asked our children for their favourite read aloud, Varjak Paw was the runaway winner. #ReasonsToReadAloud

If you were watching the #ReasonsToReadAloud conversation the other night but feel less confident this course might be for you. Alec is a lovely person and brilliant trainer.

If we do not read to our primary classes daily then for many children no one else is reading to them - being read to is a key aspect of early education as it develops language, abstract thought and a lifelong gift of pleasure + knowledge.

Reading aloud should be part of the classroom and also the home environment. What better way to bond with a child than enjoying the magic of a story together #ReasonsToReadAloud

@smithsmm #ReasonstoReadAloud Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls was a favourite from my own childhood that I loved to read aloud to my class every year. Not a dry eye by the end!

Reading aloud should not be an option. It is a vital part of what we do in primary schools IMO. #ReasonsToReadAloud https://t.co/GpzFHFRnzh

@smithsmm Because kids imitate behaviour. Let them see adults displaying the love of reading and oracy skills that we tell them are so important. #MonkeyseeMonkeydo #Bethechangeyouwanttosee #ReasonstoReadAloud #ReadingforPleasure

@smithsmm Books lead us to openings of potential within ourselves through our imagination; share this experience & that potential expands beyond borders, into minds & hearts to grow thinkers, with guided reassurance from the read aloud experience & sense of community #ReasonsToReadAloud

@smithsmm My class of 3 and 4 year olds love being read to and for *some* of them it is their only access to the wonderful world of books, stories, poetry and information texts. Also it’s so much fun - voicing the dragon in Room on the Broom always makes me smile! #ReasonstoReadAloud

@smithsmm I love reading aloud, and I think it’s also an opportunity to communicate in another way - to all ages - tho I work with EY. Sometimes things can be heard more easily thru a story 📚🦉#ReasonsToReadAloud

@smithsmm #ReasonstoReadAloud To share the joy that I’ve felt, chance to read a book, the shared conversation afterwards, love doing the voices, introducing children to something new or sharing something familiar - realising I could go on and on...
