@GebauerCarlosA Das Problem hatte sich bereits Ende 2019 mit der #Repocalypse , dem Zusammenbruch der Repo Finanzierungen der Banken angekündigt.
Repo rates have surged by 23 basis points in 3 days. They have broken above the Fed’s upper limit of 4.5%. There are still 4 business days left until the year end turn when we will see maximum pressure on the plumbing. #repocalypse

#Repo #Fails even higher last week than during the September 2019 #Repocalypse... didn't the #Fed say this was "contained" by their #Repo #operations, not to mention #NotQE? 🤔
As expected, more collateral confirmation. Repo fails surged last week.

Something broke in the financial system on 17 September, and the Fed hasn't been able to fix it. It's being called the #repocalypse. The Fed is using repos to avoid disclosing who it's bailing out. Adams & North are calling it the start of #Armageddon.

#repocalypse a new word, referring to the goings on in the REPO market in the US. Currently the Fed is buying lots of those lovely Mortgage Backed Securities we learned to love in 2009. Perhaps we are indeed nearing the End Times of the current Economic boom in the US?
The Fed’s fragilista have fragilized the world with fiat “not QE” #Repocalypse

A chart from my most recent newsletter, helping to illustrate what the Fed's overnight repo interventions mean. They are wonderful while they are happening. But every time the Fed tries to unwind, it gets ugly for stock prices (just like unwinding QE).

@PMs_AgAu I would assume so... that would trigger what many refer to #repocalypse
@CrushTheStreet #REPO #Repocalypse The Fed Is Entrenched in the Repo Market. How Does It Get Out? "Since Sept. 17... the central bank has added $237 billion of liquidity. It’s also prepared to inject up to $490 billion around Dec. 31 https://t.co/rofzSraBm8
While the world is distracted by #Impeachmentvote, the financial #Repocalypse is building steam. The world will care more about the later because of the impact it will place on your life.

The #Repo #Repocalypse Mess and Why Excess Reserves Disappeared: 'This means that under Basel III the system clears with permanent reserves in circulation, as no bank has an incentive to borrow temporary reserves from the Fed on the margin.' Zoltan Pozsar https://t.co/hgRjE2uft3
Observation is essential to understand the #Repo and #Repocalypse problem created by the #TheFed, its secret and ad hoc liquidity requirements, Dodd Frank, and Basel III. All sheer stupidity to repair the @benbernanke and @PaulsonInst mistake in letting Lehman file bankruptcy.
The Fed has endeavored to create a banking system that never needs a lender of last resort. It has in fact created one that lacks any lenders of first resort —one more dependent on it than ever before. @DavidBeckworth @dandolfa @michaelsderby @vtg2 @NickTimiraos @1954swilliamson
@DiMartinoBooth @FoxBusiness Strange version of goldilocks when the balance sheet may increase back to it's high, and half a trillion may be conjured on #repocalypse. Goldilocks for sure in that nobody wants to ask Powell any hard questions over this. #USApathy
#recession ... #Repocalypse edition
Perhaps the fundamental problem in #Repo #Markets is not #Quantity (of #Bank #Reserves)... but rather #Quality (of #Collateral)?
If so, then that would be worsened by by #QE which removes the best quality collateral from the #Repo #Markets.
Poszar now admits what the facts said all along was the only possibility: dealers have CHOSEN to hold so many USTs.
Dealer choice, not overburdened by fiscal deficits.
Not a small issue, as we are finding out.
