The Georgian Dream #regime has adopted new #repressive legislation that effectively makes participation in politics conditional on the approval of one man - Bidzina Ivanishvili. The law restricts #political and civil rights, criminalizes and effectively limits membership in political parties and passive suffrage, as well as any form of political activity and criticism of the government for individuals receiving funding or otherwise engaged with international actors and deemed undesirable by Ivanishvili. The text of the law is deliberately so vague that it applies to an extremely broad range of citizens, and any person undesirable to the authorities can become a victim of #repression at any time. The law effectively declares good-faith political activity and activism a crime and allows only the use of #corrupt sources of funding, from which only the government and its satellite political actors benefit.
