A few years ago, The Sporting Resource was mainly a place where I shared coaching ideas.
Over time, I kept thinking about the same problem:
"Coaches, parents and volunteers don’t always need more information."
Sometimes they just need the right resource, in the right place, without having to search through endless posts, folders or websites to find it.
So I’ve gradually been building a dedicated Resources section on the TSR website.
Everything you can see here is completely free and you can now find things like:
• Session plans and guest sessions
• Games Generator
• Equal Game Time Calculator
• Live Tactical Board
• Reflection and observation tools
• Parent resources
• Tactical breakdowns
• Coaching insights
• Recommended people and resources to follow
✅ There’s no sign-up required.
You can search for what you need, filter by category and open the resource directly from one page.
The aim is quite simple:
"Make TSR somewhere you can come back to when you actually need something."
• Session idea before training.
• Reflection tool on the drive home.
• Something to help with game time.
• A resource for a parent.
Or just something that gets you thinking differently about coaching.
I’m still building it, and there’s plenty more I want to add, but all 12 resources are available now.

➡️ Field divided as shown, 10 yd zone near goal is no-fly for opponent - when ball passed to outside player, they enter, nearest teammate switches - Outside players are not marked in their zone
⬆️ Limit touch count; outside defenders mark; eliminate no-fly zone
🧠 Attackers - look for off-balance and beat opponent moving forward, try to find numbers-up combinations
🧠 Outside player - when entering grid, try to quickly attack space forward, combine to get scoring opportunity

Continuous Attacks | 1v0 | 2v2| 3v3
🧱 Session Set up:
✔️ In a 25 by 25 square.
✔️ Place a pair of mini goals on the left side of the playing area opposite a team of attackers white. Then repeat this set up on the bottom and top of the playing area.
✔️ Place a scoring zone around 4 yards from each pair of mini goals. Black cones for the blacks and white cones for the whites.
How to Play:
✔️ The game gradually builds up from a 1v0 up to a 3v3. On the whistle an attacker from each line tries to score in the mini goal. They must be in the scoring zone for the goal to count.
✔️ The first player to do this keeps possession for their team for ball two. The team that scored brings a ball on and the team that lost adds a player. This creates a 2v2.
✔️ The practice continues like this for a final ball and a 3v3. After this ball completes the practice resets.
🧩 Coaching Points:
✔️ Commit the middle of the pitch to open up spaces down the sides.
✔️ Pass into space for runners. Players around the ball show for it.
✔️ Take shooting opportunities early. Collectively exploit the space behind the defenders.
Progression:
✔️ Play with an overload, so the team that scores first adds a player with a ball and the team that didn’t plays outnumbered. 1v0 - 2v1 - 3v2.
